WAITING FOR ROYAL RUMBLE 2019: RETROSPECTION AND QUICK FACTS


Before we set our sights on 2nd Women's Royal Rumble match, let's have a look at the historical, inaugural last year's edition. Several quick facts about it!

THE INAUGURAL WOMEN'S ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH 2018 WINNER:
ASUKA

The Empress of Tomorrow Asuka won the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble match, adding that to her accomplishments list. She entered the ring as contestant #25 eliminating three contestants, including Nikki Bella (Ember Moon and Nia Jax were eliminated by her, as Jax was eliminated cooperatively by Asuka and other competitors) who was the last obstacle on the Empress' way!

Asuka choose to challenge Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34, for the SmackDown Women's title and she had her first Main roster loss.

MOST ELIMINATIONS:
MICHELLE McCOOL
Returning Michelle McCool (#14) eliminated 5 contestants (Sonya Deville, Liv Morgan, Molly Holly, Lana and Vicki Guerrero (cooperatively)), before being eliminated by Natalya.

LONG LASTING SUPERSTAR:
SASHA BANKS

54:46 minutes lasted in the ring is the Boss Sasha Banks (#1) accomplishment, next to the fact that she was #1 entrant. She eliminated 3 competitors (Bayley, Trish Stratus and Vickie Gurrero (cooperatively)), before being eliminated by The Bella Twins.

RETURNING SUPERSTARS:
3 HALL OF FAMERS AND 5 ALUMNI
Hall of fame Superstars Lita (#5, 3 eliminations, eliminated by Becky Lynch) ), Jacqueline (#21, 0 el., eliminated by Nia Jax) and Trish Stratus (#30, 3 el., eliminated by Sasha Banks) returned for the event. 
Former Alumni like Kelly Kelly (#19, 0 el., eliminated by Nia Jax), Molly Holly (#12, 1 el., eliminated by Michelle McCool), Torrie Wilson (#9, 1 el., eliminated by Sonya Deville), Vickie Gurerrero (#16, 0 el., eliminated by Becky Lynch, Ruby Riott, Sasha Banks and Michelle McCool), Michelle McCool (#14, 5 el., eliminated by Natalya) and The Glamazon Beth Phoenix (#24, 0 el., eliminated by Natalya) returned as well.

NXT ENTRANTS :
KAIRI SANE AND EMBER MOON (THEN NXT WOMEN'S CHAMPION)

Kairi Sane and Ember Moon represented the NXT Women's division, as Moon was even the reigning Women's Champion at the time.

The inaugural Mae Young Classic Winner Kairi Sane entered the ring as #6, and was the fourth eliminated (she was thrown over the top rope by Dana Brooke). Actually Kairi , was a replacement of Alicia Fox. She had zero eliminations.

Ember Moon entered the match injured. She draw #23 and was the twentieth eliminated, by her NXT nemesis Asuka, without scoring any eliminations.

CURIOUS:
THE MATCH OPENING TWO SUPERSTARS THESE YEARS ARE INVOLVED IN A TITLE MATCHES
It's interesting that the match openers this year are both involved in a title matches for their respective brands Women's Title.

Sasha Banks who entered as #1, scored 3 eliminations, and survived 54:46 min, this year is challenging for the WWE Raw Women's Championship. She will face the reigning champion Ronda Rousey, this Sunday.

Becky Lynch who entered as #2, scored 2 eliminations and had succeeded in capturing her second SmackDown women's title, last year, will compete against The Empress of Tomorrow - the last years, Royal Rumble Match Winner, for the Blue Brand's women's belt!
