Fatal 4-Way at WrestleMania? Great. But Did It Have to Feel Like an Afterthought?

  WWE.com As much as I find Bayley and Lyra Valkyria's alliance amusing, to me, they function less like a real tag team than Charlotte and Alexa Bliss do. Somehow, Flair and Bliss were written with genuine cohesion. At the same time, the Role Model and Lyra have had a really bumpy ride together — the psychotic Bayley episodes, Lyra's constant wariness, the tension that never quite resolved. And lately, all of that was just quietly written off the script. Gone. Moving on. I respect their work in the ring. I respect their individual struggles to build their characters. But their addition this Monday to the WrestleMania 42 WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match — now a Fatal 4-Way — felt forced and out of nowhere. Seriously, it looked like some creative executive woke up on Monday and decided: "Hey, let's send Bayley and that other girl she drags around everywhere — Lyra — to WrestleMania! That'll feel spontaneous! ...And we did screw Bay last year, so... take it...
