AWOW Announcement: Shifting Gears, Keeping the Vision

 

I need to clarify a few things about the blog's existence and its future, and make a few announcements.

Temporary Change in How AWOW Operates

For now, this blog is shifting to a "situational" format — meaning posts will go up when something really significant happens, rather than on a regular schedule.

I went through the whole attempt of covering the main U.S. promotions' weekly shows and PPVs. Tried to subscribe for better access (failed with TNA). I don't have a VPN and don't plan to get one — but apparently, my browser is flagged as if it has one, and that caused several attempts to access wrestling content to fall flat.

And honestly? Women's wrestling, booking, and the business as a whole are still one of my main passions. Writing about all of it is something I love. But my attempts to find funding and volunteers to help have not been going well. It's demotivating and frustrating. If I were more paranoid, I could say it looks intentional — people check the blog but don't engage with it officially. I'll keep that frustration in check, though. On top of that, I'm no longer subscribed to Netflix, which makes following WWE as closely as before a lot harder.

I am not announcing a hiatus.

I'm just being transparent that AWOW is becoming "occasional."

The Goals

Despite everything, the goals list stays as it is. I still want to showcase more women's wrestling from around the world, build a team, and find financial support. If you can genuinely help with any of that, you're more than welcome.

I'd also love to engage in back-and-forth with readers and actually talk with followers — but that, too, is something outside my control right now. The goals might seem ambitious, but I don't think they're unrealistic.

The AI Question

AI is a tool. Like any tool, it can be used for harm — or, in my case, to explore ideas, map out possibilities, and handle the more mechanical parts of the work like editing drafts and writing social media posts that don't need a personal touch.

I understand the controversy around generative AI, but that's not what's happening here. My articles are written and structured by me. They're reviewed, lightly edited, and refined with AI assistance.

The chibi illustrations are built using web research and prompts I wrote and adapted myself. They're free expressions of admiration and my fan side — unless and until they're made by a real artist, which is what I want. For now, they're just a visual sketch of that idea.

You can take an extreme position and project your assumptions onto it, or you can take it for what it is: tools exist to be used, to help build something better.

Necesito aclarar algunas cosas sobre la existencia del blog y su futuro, y hacer algunos anuncios.

Cambio Temporal en el Funcionamiento de AWOW

Por ahora, este blog pasa a un formato "situacional" — es decir, los artículos se publicarán cuando ocurra algo realmente significativo, en lugar de seguir un calendario regular.

Intenté cubrir los programas semanales y PPVs de las principales promociones estadounidenses. Traté de suscribirme para tener mejor acceso (fallé con TNA). No tengo VPN y no planeo tenerla — pero al parecer mi navegador está marcado como si la tuviera, y eso hizo que varios intentos de acceder a contenido de lucha libre no funcionaran.

¿Y sabes qué? La lucha libre femenina, el booking y el negocio en general siguen siendo una de mis grandes pasiones. Escribir sobre todo eso es algo que amo. Pero mis intentos de encontrar financiación y voluntarios no están yendo bien. Es desmotivador y frustrante. Si fuera más paranoica, podría decir que parece intencional — la gente revisa el blog pero no interactúa con él de forma oficial. Voy a dejar esa frustración a un lado. Además, ya no estoy suscrita a Netflix, lo que hace bastante más difícil seguir la WWE tan de cerca como antes.

No estoy anunciando un hiato.

Solo quiero ser transparente: AWOW se vuelve "ocasional."

Los Objetivos

A pesar de todo, la lista de objetivos sigue igual. Todavía quiero mostrar más lucha libre femenina de todo el mundo, construir un equipo y encontrar apoyo financiero. Si puedes ayudar de verdad con algo de eso, eres más que bienvenida/o.

También me encantaría tener más intercambios con los lectores y hablar con los seguidores — pero eso también está fuera de mi control por ahora. Los objetivos pueden parecer ambiciosos, pero no creo que sean irreales.

La Cuestión de la IA

La IA es una herramienta. Como cualquier herramienta, puede usarse para hacer daño — o, en mi caso, para explorar ideas, mapear posibilidades y encargarse de las partes más mecánicas del trabajo, como editar borradores y escribir publicaciones en redes sociales que no necesitan un toque personal.

Entiendo la controversia en torno a la IA generativa, pero no es eso lo que pasa aquí. Mis artículos los escribo y estructuro yo. Luego son revisados, ligeramente editados y refinados con ayuda de la IA.

Los dibujos chibi se crean a partir de investigación web y prompts que yo misma escribí y adapté. Son expresiones libres de admiración y de mi lado fan — hasta que sean dibujados por un artista de verdad, que es lo que quiero. Por ahora, son simplemente un boceto visual de ese proyecto.

Puedes tomar una posición extrema y proyectar tus suposiciones, o puedes aceptarlo tal como es: las herramientas existen para usarse, para ayudar a construir algo mejor.
