We're baaaack!
This weekend we had two pay-per-viws, two amazing women's events, as one of them was historical and kind of won by the 'suspected' winner. Of course we will start with NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia.
NXT WOMEN'S CHAMPION EMBER MOON VS. SHAYNA BASZLER,
TITLE MATCH
We in AWOW are not huge fans of Baszler! But we are professionals, so we can praise her skills and talent. Former MMA, turned pro wrestler, with many accomplishments in the both fields, Shayna established her name, last year, reaching the finals of Mae Young Classic. It was just a matter of time, to see her signed and targeting her MYC rival Kairi Sane, using the Pirate Princess as a "message" to the NXT War Goddess and current title holder Ember Moon. With a lot o f bullying Baszler, reached her goal to challenge Moon for the NXT women's division top prize.
Ember was on 100% as always - mentally, physically and with her stunning arsenal on the line, for a rude, raw battle. Despite the fact that Baszler dominated most of the time, Moon also had her great spot, like the Eclipse, she hit - perfect as always.
I am still in controversy with myself, about the end. No, I felt that Moon will win! Baszler is too fresh for NXT Women's Belt, she needs time and more bullying to enter another title opportunity and me personally, I want to see her facing the likes of Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, young fighters like Lacey Evans and Bianca Belair, oh and of course some rematch against Kairi Sane will be nice too. That will be a good preparation for a title reign. Actually Shayna was a step/submission closer to the win and Ember had prove herself as a real tactician, not just a high-fly-screaming amazon who combined power moves with devastating aerial techniques. Moon really saw and grabbed the chance.
Of course about the champ injury... Weeell! C'mon, you are screaming in agony and tears are coming out of your eyes at one moment and in the next, you are appearing on Royal Rumble! Hm, miracles! Yeah, eventually the War Goddess, can heal faster than New Zealand youngsters (i.e. Dakota Kai).
Meanwhile, The Queen of Spades, post-match attack, was something expected and still ruthless.
ZELINA VEGA, PLEASE MEET MRS. WRESTLING!
Yeah, we are blog (for now) dedicated to women's wrestling, but we can't and we don't close our eyes about men's wrestling. Especially, when one of our favorite valets is in action. Saturday's NXT Title match was really amazing and Andrade 'Cien' Almas and Johnny Gargano tear down the hall. But Zelina Vega helped, for the heat rising too and not only with her stunning hurricanrana from the ring post.
After I watched Vega executing hurricanrana driver on Drew McIntyre, I just can't wait to see her in this title match and she didn't disappoint me. But the better part is that we are one step closer (closer than Baszler to the NXT Women's belt 😉), to see our long anticipated Vega's wrestling debut and I am excited about it.
And it looks, like another of our hopes will come true. Candice LeRae neutralized Zelina and gave us hope that soon we might see a one-on-one and mixed tag team match, involving these two former-indie icons.
I can't wait to see it!
But at these point it looks like the Wrestling/Gargano's Family is having another, more dangerous, deadly foe - Tommaso Ciampa!
