NOTE: Our policy is to watch the PPV or the show or the match and then to write an article about it. After our financial costs cuts, we don't have WWE Network and we have to be more inventive and to find alternatives. So we are one day late, I know ... but BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!
Thank you for your support and patience!
Before we turn our sight on RAW's events, we needed to say some words about the last Sunday's PPV.
It was huge, with women's match Main Eventing the card.
Starting with WWE Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 Finals:
The epic trademark Northernlight Suplex didn't help Foxy, but it was awesome display of power and athleticism, as always! |
It was nice to see the team of R-Truth and Carmella winning this season, after outlasting Asuka and The Miz and the last obstacle - the team of Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahal, to reach to the top! Now their award is 30th spot in their respective Royal Rumble matches, a vacation to the location of their choice and the honor to be the winner of the whole thing!
It was nice to see Foxy in action and the Singh Brothers as weasels sneaking around. Mahal was regularly not interesting at all, outshone by the veteran Truth's acrobatic abilities and agility. I, personally, love Code of Silence - Carmella's finishing submission and it is one of my favorite moves, so for me it was double delight to see her applying it on Fox for the win.
Carmella score another memorable victory, silencing Fox! |
Actually, this year we saw the two most entertaining and funny teams reaching the Finals. I think that all four (six with the Singhs) competitors, were appreciated and honored with that push, well deserved!
Well, the post-match, vacation location revelation was typical for that team - Stanford, Connecticut , where the WWE Headquarter is situated is not what Carmella expected, but this is what happens when you dealing with R-Truth - the unexpected!
Sarah Logan (left) and Liv Morgan (right) having no idea what awaits them, later. |
To enter a singles match against The Riott Squad's leader is equal to get yourself involved in a 3 on 1 Handicap match against the whole Squad and Natalya entered the ring this past Sunday, for her Tables match against Ruby Riott, clearly realizing that simple fact! And Nattie was ready for that unofficial Handicap! More than ready...
Liv Morgan literally sacrifice herself to save her Leader and learn that she can't fly over the table...she just collide through it. One down, two to go! |
Liv Morgan sacrifice herself in the mid-match and that was a really dramatic element, as she hit the table. Of course that pissed off the rest of the Riott Squad. My girl, Sarah Logan was next to be erased from the equation and after several attempts to help Ruby, the face-painted member was driven through the table with a nice slam! I enjoyed that total payback and domination. Well, booked retribution!
No matter how powerful is Logan, she wasn't ready for the unlimited rage and thirst for revenge of the Queen of Harts! (Wo)Man down! Let's deal with the last one! (Man, that table is hard!) |
After destroying the 2/3s of the Squad there was nothing on the way of Nattie and the match get into the regular one-on-one with some psycho-games by Riott using the table with the figure of Jim Neidhart on it. Actually, it must be really uncomfortable for both women, outside the gimmick and the story - all that of the death Legend's name for insulting his daughter, but their professionalism takes a toll and I am really bowing down to Natalya, who agreed to participate in this kind of angle. Riott got a really great heat as a heel from this hard, disrespectful story-building. At this point we saw Sharpshooter (just for torture) and a real fight, without interference, without cheap shots.
Riott played her twisted mind-games to the end of the match, not realizing how it will affect her! |
At the end...What an end! Nattie puled a trick on her own, from under the ring - so Ruby Riott had to 'kiss' her own face, sticker-ed on the tables surface! A moment for a smile for Natalya, after a great match and accomplished goal - revenge at any cost!
Finally smiling! Nattie just can feel how near her revenge is! |
For me this match was about great opportunity - the opportunity to see Natalya - the Old School, the woman that helped to rebuild that division facing one of the most decorated and controversial villain and super talented young Superstar on the Raw's roster - Ruby Riott! It was great! They worked great their rivalry and reach its peak with well built match around their conflict. Actually, I was ready to see any of them winning the match because they are equally stunning and deserving as wrestlers, but the creatives decided to give us another moment of retribution for Natlya's struggles and it wasn't bad decision. Especially with the way it happens!
After weeks of psychological harassment Natalya stands tall, smashing Ruby Riott and her Squad. |
Now we hope to see the other two - Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan, to get more opportunities in the ring and we will watch where the path will lead both Nattie and Ruby!
She believes she can fly...and damn, she can! |
Тhe Raw Women's Championship match was really good. Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax put a really good fight and there were several really great spots. Tamina's interference didn't help much her Samoan countrywoman to win her second belt.
'This is for you' , the Champ send her message to Tamina, who interfered unsuccessfully earlier, befor locking Jax in the merciful Arm-bar for the win! |
Actually it was obvious that Jax had no chance to won it. On the other hand Rousey prove for another time that she is really great athlete and I totally enjoyed the 'last dance' - the way that Rousey went into locking Jax, rolling her around the ring like she is paper doll. Ronda is constantly evolving and not only in the in-ring action I could honestly praise her mic skills qualities , the last weeks. The match was great, maybe kind of regular, but good work, for both women. Nothing to be ashamed of!
