WWE 7-Times Women's Champion Trish Stratus |
I will put this topic on display again!
Why?
Because I have watched WOH (Women of Honor) and thought to myself "Why these amazing, women are not having a title? That is a crime against them!"
While WWE had always had women's title. Even if most of the time they mistreated their women, in the past. Even when they deactivated the title on several occasions. They always found a way to bring it back, and their then-Divas, slowly started to overcome the odds and to built the foundation of their own Women's (R)Evolution.
ROH: Sumie Sakai |
Meanwhile, promotions like TNA, WCW, ECW, really mistreated their 'women's divisions' with a sneaky cat fights and constant valeting. Some of them needed several years and special women like Gail Kim, to create a women's belt! Other never dared to escape the sexism of the wrestling business!
SHIMMER, WSU, SHINE - they allowed women to have their own stage and to have their own top prizes, because the title is the total expression of the promoters gratitude. And even if you are challenger for it, it makes you special! These promotions know how important is the availability of a title, not only as award and show of respect, but as a founding structure for feuds and story-lines!
ROH had its division from talented women like Kelly Klein, Deonna Purrazzo, Mandy Leon, Taeler Hendrix (formerly). They used them in Dark matches most of the time, but when they were pressed in the corner by WWE's and all-women's promotion evolution, they decided to give us WOH! Aaaaand to start fooling around, about "to be or not to be" created a WOH Championship! Is this that hard decision, ROH? How many great talents you will use, until you gave them a total, gold prize, they deserve?
ROH: Deonna Purrazzo |
ROH needs to reconsider their views on the women's title!
ROH! You need it! Your women's need it! So stop fooling around and found that title! You can do it!
Now 'targeting' Lucha Underground! You did think that I will spare them, didn't you?
I know that the idea is to progressive for LU! They have only 4-5 active female wrestlers, and the number of the roster is threatened to be reduced even further. So, they can put pictures of Doku/Kairi Sane on their roster's page, but the illusion that everything is OK and equal will not last long!
The machismo culture is still the top value in this promotion, no matter how many Intergender matches they will book and how many supportive articles and interviews they will present with Ivelisse, etc.! Some people still can see the crack in the mirror! So change that!
ROH: Kelly Klein |
Yes, women beats men and vice versa! But the discussion how revolutionary is this for the women's wrestling is still controversial. WWE had done it! TNA had done it! It was never that successful for the women's division popularity, to get beaten down by the men. You can book Sexy Star to take the main belt, but the question is 'How long will she keep it?'...
LU: Ivelisse |
LU needs to expand and allow more women to enter their ring. Then they need to found their Reina of The Temple title (or something like that), because it's kind of all-right to see brave women facing men, but it's also a cruel robbery of these talents, if they don't have their own belt! That doesn't mean that they can't contend for the main belt and the Gift of Gods, etc. titles, but it would be nice to have a prize for them, to honoring them with their own belt! Women like Ivelisse, Kobra Moon, Black Lotus, Mariposa and even Catrina (I'm not sure that Taya is still with LU, after the dirty trick of AAA - stripping her from AAA Reina del Reinas title in favor of Sexy Star. At her place I will quit!) deserve more competition, strong division and their own gold!
LU must stop hiding behind their argument, how they want to be unique and not to repeat others - there is nothing new under the sun and sometimes the risk to make something similar to other promotions' product is huge! LU are colorful and different enough to allow themselves to present anything -new or old, in their own fresh style!
BONUS: WHY AM I SO ANGRY WITH LU?
LU: Kobra Moon |
Because they spit on their European based fans! I can't find any content about their women's matches, except different pieces in YouTube! You can't watch interview, you can't order their comics book, I just follow them via Diva Dirt and Wikipedia, plus YouTubers who shares some amazing moments like the Black Lotus Triad vs. Pentagon Dark JR. (it was really interesting match, especially when Io Shirai as Hitkiri won it and the post-match action).
So that's why there is anger in my posts related to them! Because I learn to respect and like their product, but they decided to make my and many others life miserable by trying to follow it!
