I as an editor to AWOW can't hide my appreciation and praise for Doudrop (aka Piper Niven, aka Viper, Kimberly Benson (real-life name))! She is a stunning worker, a dream worker, she is a nice mix of non-stereotypical kind of WWE female wrestler and at the same time she so excuses me for the unprofessional language but she is cute, a sweetheart and even as a heel.
In the beginning, I was so sceptical about the whole "Doudrop" image. It was so unserious and part of me thought that it was a waste of her in-ring talent by reducing it to some comic character who serves Eva Marie. But soon, she makes it work! She even didn't struggle like many other Superstars often has problems adapting to new roles (like Bayley's heel turn). Everything comes so naturally! Even her heel turn on Bianca Belair was comparable to Dakota Kai's turn two years ago - it was so natural and so solid as motivation! "I want chances, opportunities, the RAW Women's belt! Sick of watching others getting all of that! I deserve it!". That message was solid. It was born in a series of really unique little opportunities that she grabbed despite the funny gimmick she was given. Doudrop turned into a role model who earned and well deserves every big opportunity she gets.
And the Royal Rumble's Women's title match against "Big Time Becks" is almost the top of the cake (You have Wrestlemania and Summerslam to do, girl). One of the three biggest annual main events is finally a real milestone and she is facing someone who turned the "bad girls" who wants opportunities after many were stolen from them, Becky turned this character into an "Icon" for the people around the world who felt the same way.
Now Becky Lynch is the arrogant, overconfident, Champion who needs to be shut down. The only good thing she has done for this division is to defeat Charlotte Flair in the battle of the biggest egos in WWE women's locker rooms at Survivor Series last year. Following that - it's all cheap shots over really talented young women like Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair. The future! It's logical that the veterans are afraid of new and young blood. It's something taken straight from our reality - the old generation is afraid to be replaced by every new(old) concept introduced by the newest generation. To be erased.
Becky Lynch is already a legend with her accomplishments, legacy and trailblazing. She is right when she said that she opened the door for so many of the UK talents, specifically. But it doesn't matter if the door is open if you don't have the devotion to reach it on your own!
And Doudrop did it! She walked her way from a prominent Mae Young Classic competitor to the ring in NXT UK where she had amazing matches added to her portfolio and now she is here, she did it reaching to the WWE Royal Rumble and holding the door open for those who come next like Kay Lee Ray (from WWE NXT).
Who I want to see winning at RR 2022- Doudrop!!!
Who I think and feel will win, as prediction...I hate to predict when the situation is that complicated but sadly I think that Becky will keep her belt and will put the foundation for one great Title's Fatal Four Way which will involve her, Doudrop, Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair!
This match is so important to me as a fan of Doudrop and as an analyst who thinks that it's an important and high profile match for both women involved.
Don't miss Royal Rumble this Saturday!
AWOW Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐+ (Because the Women's Royal Rumble match is the WWE women's involving main event of the evening, sorry)
