Hell, yeah! That is a huge, huge, huge signing for IMPACT! I think that everyone was shocked! I think many of us expected her to sign with AEW...
Do you know what? I am happy that she agreed to sign with IMPACT Wrestling and be sure I will share why that makes me happy...
People forgot!
The new generation of wrestling fans, specifically the compact group of women's wrestling community who appreciate the whole package, with the skills in the first place, don't remember or even know how vital for females in the sports entertainment with their Knockouts division in opposition to then WWE Divas brand. IMPACT Wrestling was the SECOND BEST! WWE won that fight just because they had a bigger platform, worldwide, more money, and were able to do many scripted stunts. But IMPACT then TNA had the moments where their women's division not just outdo, but surpassed the Divas, in matches and entertainment. With founding members like Gail Kim and Awesome Kong, who brought the "David vs. Goliath" kind of matches to new heights (for women, especially), to iconic teams like The Beautiful People, names like Taylor Wilde, Mickie James, ODB, who were original Knockouts, despite James earning popularity in WWE, that roster was the fortress of hope for the women's wrestling.
While WWE was forcing talents like Trish and Lita, Eve Torres, Victoria, and Melina to participate in a Bikini Contest and Bra' and panties, in TNA/Impact the Knockouts were crushing their skulls in ladders, cages, and whatever extreme thing you can imagine. That's why Gail Kim is such a fierce defender of the promotion. That legacy is still alive for all of us who loves woman's wrestling art and know how to appreciate it. That legacy, the tag "Knockout" still attracts women to that essential division.
So, that's why Trinity Fatu is there - to make an impact and to add more legacy while being inspired by all the current and former KOs who had set their foot in that ring!
Trinity is on IMPACT! She already made waves and this week there were still promos, interviews, and interference made by her in the latest (still pre-taped) episode. The build-up has started without having a month of mysterious vignettes or just having her jump on the ring mid-match and steal the spotlight from other hard-working women.
I am happy that Trinity decided to take that a bit more risky path. In the end, IMPACT is not being broadcasted from huge halls, like in the past. Today, the company is behind AEW, thanks to ROH's assimilation by the previously mentioned. But its KO division is SOLID! It still can give a chance to those who were underestimated and denied opportunities in WWE and AEW. I am sure that Trinity is on her way to writing in her CV, another accomplishment - x-times IMPACT Knockouts World Champion. Adding her amazing talent and skill set to that division will be an amazing experience for the GLOWing Goddess, and it won't cost any harm to her career, because if you have watched IMPACT, and paid attention to its female talents, you know that they are one of the best in the world.
Trinity will fit way more better in here, than in the crowded with former employees of Vince McMahon, AEW. She can really spread her wings because the environment in IMPACT has always allowed its wrestlers to show all they have and to reach new horizons.
Now with a sight set on the main title in her division, Trinity will definitely change and shake the landscape and can finally be unstoppable and have a lot of great matches. Actually, she already had signed an open contract for a match at the forthcoming PPV - Under Siege!
It was worth it!
