The older you get, the less you care about who will win! No, don’t get me wrong—I mean that I’ve reached a phase where I enjoy the story as it's crafted by the creatives, rather than dreaming about my own ending as a fan.
But my passion for women’s wrestling is still very much alive. So, when I shift into that mindset, it says, “AJ Lee! She’s the hero of the story! She must win! She’s my favorite.” My fantasy booking side agrees—I’d love to see iconic past-era competitors return to claim titles they missed out on because they just didn’t exist back then.
...But if those opportunities had been available back in the day, you know—THEY TOTALLY DESERVE A REIGN OR TWO!
Here I am, imagining both AJ and The Bella Twins chasing the women’s Intercontinental and Tag Team belts, respectively. I think it's going to be honorable and fascinating because—who doesn’t love inter-generational collisions? Two different eras clashing—The Past Legacy Makers and Path Builders vs. The Future Ones.
But my analyst and connoisseur self, the mature me, that appreciates the complexity of the business and the creative side of it, listens to the experiences, ideas, and dreams of the people involved—both creatives and performers. To me, there are no losers, only characters and wrestlers who will evolve into the next phase of their rivalry or even embark on new stories with other Superstars.
Becky Lynch’s DJT-inspired heel gimmick is impressive, and she works so hard to establish this entertaining personality. Tweets, videos, verbal expression! She’s amazing, and others say it too, you know… Bleacher Report said it! Sports Illustrated said it! In the last few months, my fan side loves to hate her, and the rest of me is genuinely enjoying and appreciating the twist in her in-ring persona. So, I am thrilled to see her booked on a PPV to defend a Midcard title that she’s made valuable and intriguing.
Meanwhile, AJ Lee, as the absolute moral hero, someone who’s contributed immensely to women's wrestling both in and out of WWE, is someone I’m excited to see in a one-on-one match after 10 years. The dynamic of such a high-profile match at a PPV event is entirely different from her previous team appearances with her husband and others. All eyes will be on her. The pressure will be high! You saw what happened with Nikki Bella. Well, AJ was always better in the ring back then than Nikki.
It’s going to be an interesting match, and I won’t miss it. So, the connoisseur-analyst, the fan, and the booker will all be in the front row, in front of the TV tomorrow night!
