In a series of 5 articles, we will present you 5-names who WWE missed to sign or have signed and released in controversial circumstances. The missing of these 5 names, for us, is something that keeps WWE women's division away from the total perfection, from the total domination over the women's wrestling scene. Away from the real Revolution and Evolution!
Yes, we'll start with Ivelisse Velez!
She is the WWE mistake that I never forgive. They release her because she was too independent, back in the Divas-Era, before NXT to become more than a developmental show. They released her, after allegations against a trainer in PC, because WWE didn't like this type of scandals, related to physical abuse and they often punish the victims about it (like Debra, Stone Cold's wife scandals in the past, like Ashley Massaro's case, etc). If you were a woman, back there in the 2000s, prior 2015/16 and you have a complaint with your trainer, you know your price and you have no patience to be on the bigger stage, to display your skills, you'll be fired!
Only Ivelisse, WWE officials and the walls at WWE Performance center facility, know the truth.
Now under Triple H and William Regal's reign, with the likes of Sara Amato and Sarah Stocks as trainers, the things for the future female talents of WWE looks brighter. But what about the robbed talents? Those who were released, as punishment for defending themselves? Those who were too ambitious for WWE's then policy? Today we see many talents, who were cited as troublemakers, egomaniacs, or not needed at the time, to return for a new run. WWE lift the ban for former talents to return, like nothing has ever happened, so why they are not willing to resign a world-recognized talent as Ivelisse?
Ivelisse is a really good competitor. Really hard working wrestler. Really respected in the indies. Well, she may have that Latina attitude - strong, passionate, and ambitious, but who doesn't have a bit from this? Paige? Emma? Nia Jax? Charlotte? All of them have these factors, too. They display them in a different manner. Ivelisse is just a more dominant character, a real fighter, who knows her price, what she can do, what she exactly can achieve. And this is the "problem"!
These are the huge pros and cons!
Wrestlers with independent traits are well accepted if they are men. If you are a woman, WWE officials will tell you what to do and will never listen to your ideas, unless you start to earn them money. "Ivelisse, be blond!", "Ivelisse, change your name to "Lupita Suarez Gonzales"!". "Ivelisse, don't be so ambitious!". "Oh, you are fighting like a man and you have problems with our trainer Hall of Famer, so Girl-Bye!"... WWE will never be able to speak about equality, until they didn't drop the residues of this old attitude, like changing every women's name.
After all of the upward examples, you may ask:
1. Why would you wish Ivelisse to be back there?
2. Why should she return to WWE?
3. Why WWE should sign her back?
I will start with the last question...
WWE always was about talents and Superstars! Ivelisse 100% fulfill these demands. She is a great quality Superstar, who needs a little bit of refining. A year or two in NXT, to fight Asuka and Ember Moon, to win their title. Plus huge jump into the main roster, to fight against Paige, Charlotte, Emma, etc. Because for me Ivelisse is one of the greatest female wrestlers ever. One of the greatest in the world. She is ambitious, she is talented, she is sooo into wrestling. They even can risk and use her in an intergender match, because she loves to appear in them. She is not just a Champion material! She is a Legend material if they book her correct... If they keep her challenged and passionate!
Why should Ivelisse return?
She has a great indie career. She's a two-time SHINE Champion. She travels around the world. She is an arse-kicking b***h in Lucha Underground who, all of the fans love and respect. But... She deserves a bigger stage. Her talent is sort of wasting in these small stages, with opponents who she can easily dominate, because you must be retarded to not book her as a winner, against them... WWE is the top promotion - love it or hate it! This is the fact that you can't deny.! Huge Superstar like her, deserves to be in the top promotion in the world, next to huge stars like Asuka, Ember Moon, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Paige, Becky Lynch, and Emma - all of them former indie workers. Ivelisse is equal, even better than some of them. Her place is in WWE, her career will be fulfilled, after she wins every women's title available in there, appear at WrestleMania and write her name in the WWE Hall of Fame... She can do it! WWE can help allow her to do it!
What kind of person should I be to want her in WWE, after everything that happened in the past? I am a person who have respect, admire, and love for women's wrestling, respect for these amazingly strong women, an embodiment of the women's strength. Ivelisse is one of my best, for all-time. Of course, I will want her back in there. Of course, I can see her as a top woman Superstar, next to the other former indies. Ivelisse is too big for the indie scene and the indie scene is too small for her.
