While RAW officials are betting on their top 4 names, for WM 33 showdown, SmackDown Live's as always willing to put almost the whole women's division into the spotlight.
We have a good news and a bad news!
The bad news is not that we don't know in what type of match Alexa Bliss will defend her title. The bad news is that the match is booked in the Kickoff show. Actually, it is sort of logical! RAW's division earned some heat these last two weeks and their top competitors are already proved as Show-stealing Superstars (remember last year's WM???). According to the last news RAW Women's title will be put on the line in a Fatal-4-Way Eliminations Match!
SmackDown has a really nice women's roster, really well build characters and the legendary Mickie James, as addition. The match will be interesting as almost every woman, in it, has a chance to win the title. But let's analyze the competitors momentum!
NATALYA
Veteran! Talented! Legacy-maker!
Natalya is one-time WWE Divas Champion, by won the belt in a Handicap match, against Lay-Cool (Layla and Michelle McCool), at Survivor Series PPV, in November 21, 2010. She held the belt for over two months. She was scehduled to defend it at the Royal Rumble PPV in 2011, in a Handicap rematch, against Lay-Cool, which was transformed into Fatal-4-Way match, where Eve Torres, was the mysterious entry and the winner of it.
Since 2011, Natalya spent a lot of time and energy chasing the belt, appearing in a farting angles, love-angles with Great Khali, teaming with Beth Phoenix. As top of all of it, she ended in a Total Divas. She had some boosts in her career in the past two years by challenging Charlotte and having short lived rivalries with Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella.
Now Nattie Neidhart is hungrier than ever for gold! She deserves it, but the line is too long and her chances are equal to those of Becky, Naomi and Mickie James. She is really talented and natural wrestler, but at this point this factors are less important. The storylines are in front of everything! You must enter a serious, heated storyline, to reach the title picture. Natalya, doesn't have any serious storyline! She mess with all of the women in SDL - faces and heels, her last rivalries ended in a controversial fashion. Yes, she is a huge factor in the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff Title match, but maybe her role once again will be to elevate the other competitors...
But WWE officials can surprise us!
BECKY LYNCH
The Irish Lass Kicker is someone with who all of the fans are emotionally related. She can work the crowd and to earn heat with an ease.
Becky Lynch is someone, with whom every Superstar from the Blue brand division will be lucky to work with. Good technique, well established character, the orange haired rebel walked her own long way to WWE and accomplish a lot for these two-three years, as a part of the main roster. And she will accomplish more, we are sure at that!
Her chances at WrestleMania 33 are really good, aside from the fact, that she spent the weeks prior WM in a brawls and Talking Smack. Her abilities are not to be underestimated. She prove what she is capable off, so many times. At last years Show of the Shows, she proved that she make her statement for a Hall of Fame spot. From that moment her career was following the way to the top and never reached a real low point. Becky helped many fellow Superstars to develop or revive their fame and careers - like Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, even Natalya.
Lynch is a loyal employee, hard working in the ring, helpful and respectful for her fellow women-Superstars. She is our second suggestion for a winner of the WrestleMania 33 title match. We think that the cruel battle will be between Alexa, Mickie James, Becky Lynch, Natalya and The Good News 😉!!!
CARMELLA
/w. James Ellsworth/
I'll make a detour from the serious topic. Carmella is a talented wrestler, intriguing character and she has one of my favorite finishers (Code of silence)... Buuuut.... Sorry, I can't see her as a Champion, anytime soon. She and Alexa Bliss, blended well into the Blue brand, after the draft, but both of them need more time.
Her involvement with James Ellsworth is fresh and interesting way, to find a role and job for the Chinless Superstar, but what is more interesting is, how their relationship will end, because it's on its way to end someday, in the nearest future.Their storyline is more in the focus, when we talk about The Princess of Staten Island, than her matches.
I am not expecting much from her in Sunday (if WWE creatives will not surprise us). Oh, she will do her best, she will show her nice moves, but I can't see her as a Champion. This will be ridiculous, when you have Mickie James, Becky Lynch, Natalya and you know who in the picture.
Actually Carmella is one of the shocking ways, that WWE can gain a heat in the form of negative to "I don't care! I hope this will end soon!" reactions. The other one is ... will talk about her later in a very special post, this week!
MICKIE JAMES
Mickie is someone, who live and breath, literally, with the pro-wrestling! She didn't retired! She always looked for completion out of WWE and TNA!
Mickie James is one of the Best in the world!
I will share something funny: These days when I think about Mickie, I don't know why I associate her constantly with another name from the past - Melina Perez! I just miss their chemistry and well worked matches. I hope someday WWE and Melina will buried the hatchet and will work out something spectacular.
At this point I just hope to see Mickie as SDLive Women's Champion - a title that she deserves, too! If not at WrestleMania 33, I hope at other PPV. About this Sunday I am sure that she will put a good fight for the gold. Even if she not win, the winner must be prepare to meet her in the nearest future. No matter what will happen, Mickie is already on her way to WWE Hall of Fame and her legacy will be honored, no matter what!
ALEXA BLISS
Our feisty Champion! The one with who, WWE officials are not so happy, according to the latest rumors...
She's in trouble! Her chances are not minimal and less than the other competitors involved in it. Bliss is doing what she can and her character is one of the greatest in the roster, but this is not enough for WWE officials, who criticize her lack of chemistry with the others.
It's funny, because at the beginning she didn't have this problem. She worked her matches without a notes on her chemistry. It was before her push to the SmackDown Women's Championship. After it and her work with Mickie James, everything seems to be not so bright for her reign. It looks like the woman who will, eventually win the match, will make Bliss a favor. I am still not agree, that Alexa is that bad. WWE had a worst Women's champions in the past. She needs to refine her skills, and to work a little bit more with her old-new fellows. If you look clearly, Carmella is the only familiar face, that she had ever worked with, in more than one match. To pushed in a fight with Legend, wasn't well worked out, aside from the great idea.
Bliss needs to train seriously with her opponents. That's what she was learned at NXT, that's her way of accomplish things.
At Sunday, she may or not leave WrestleMania 33 as a Champion.Who knows!
THE GOOD NEWS:
NAOMI
is back!!!
What a pleasant surprise, sort of expected! Everyone felt the Glow, as Carmella and Alexa felt it in a painful way!
Naomi made her return after a (suspicious) injury and she is heading to WrestleMania 33 Kickoff, as a challenger for her never lost in battle title. She spent some quiet weeks preparing for this moment. The fans enjoy it! We enjoy it! Now we have three candidates for a new Champion - Becky, Mickie and Naomi, with Natalya in our mind too.
It will be nice to see Naomi as two-time SmackDown Women's Champion, but is it possible at WM 33?!? We saw her try to win several multi-contestant high-staked matches in the past and she ended at the losing end. Her character is build as a sort of single and rarely tag team fighter. She mind her own business, when she is face-to-face with her opponents!
For me personally, Naomi was robbed and she is more than a rightful Champion. If this injury thing was a kayfabe, just to bring Bliss back on top, then I think that WWE deserve the title "Polite schemers" of them all! Because they didn't make a poor showdown in which Bliss to win the title, like Maria Kanellis-Bennett's order to Allie to lay down for the 3-counts in TNA! No, WWE played the officials card, the rule that if you are not able to defend your title in 30 days, you are stripped from it! Rule that is applied selectively. And if that injury story, is revealed as a kayfabe act, the only way to fix the damage is to bring Naomi back on top, if not at WrestleMania, than on other PPV!
Come on! She deserves it!
TWO WORDS ABOUT NIKKI AND MARYSE
Fighting next to their men, must be more than inspirational and emotional for Nikki and Maryse.
Their showdown is actually very intriguing! For me, personally, because of Maryse's controversial health status... Come on! They released her in the past, because of her injury. It was a major reason for her departure from WWE and it's not a secret. But now she is here and she is doing her heel stuffs, as in the good old days, because this was her work, to be a Blond bombshell heel.
Today she will face one different Bella. Nikki definitely evolve from the days back in the past where the Twin magic, won her or cost her matches (mostly the first one). Nikki prove that she is seriously into the pro-wrestling business (until next personal or creative crisis). She returned from a serious injury, learning to wrestle in a different way.
I want to see these two collide and I hope that it will worth it. Of course they are not alone! They have their men counterparts involved, but I hope that we'll see something if not spectacular, then emotional and nice, from them. As long as we all know, they have some real life issues, too!
