Five NXT women, received a call up to the main roster and their debut was a real shake off for both Raw and SmackDwon's women's divisions.
Today we are not talking about Sonya Deville vs. Ruby Riot's match, from yesterday. They are now part of the Red and the Blue brands, respectively. Today we are looking at the NXT Invaders and what is happening with NXT!
THE RAW'S UNHOLY ALLIANCE
Is this a Deja Vu?
Paige return really shake off the Raw women's roster and WWE Universe this Monday. Bringing two of the fleshiest, former Tough Enough Alumni and NXT Live events Superstars - Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, was just the cherry of the top of the cake!
It's really nice angle and I can't stop watch it again and again because part of me still can't believe that this is happening.
I will take you back to July 13, 2015 episode of Raw. Yes, this is the episode when Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, debuted! They were called up as allies to Paige and Naomi and Tamina, against Team Bella's trio of Brie Bella, Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox.
Now let's turn back on this Monday, November 20th, 2017. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville are joining Paige in her war to re-establish her career and positions. What is the meaning of all of this? I want to remind you that Paige is someone who is not well known as a good team player. Maybe at the moment she will use Rose and Deville for a while. I think that Mandy and Sonya are using Paige, secretly, to get some kick-start. But at the end there will be a confrontation and Bad Blood!
But who are exactly Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose?
Sonya Deville (real name Daria Berenato), who started to train and compete in MMA at age 17, is building her image around that fact. The MMA turned pro-wrestler. Daria participated in sixth season of Tough Enough, where she was eliminated third. She signed with WWE in October 28, 2015. She made her debut in December at Live event, losing to Nia Jax.
Deville was officially added to the NXT TV roster earlier this year, beside she made her TV debut in August 17, 2016. Her career in NXT, ended with some one-on-one victories against Lacey Evans, Rachel Evers, Zeda, etc. She participated in Triple Threat Qualification match for the #1 Contender's spot in Fatal-4-way match at TakeOver:War Games, against Ruby Riot and Ember Moon, which was won by Moon.
Mandy Rose (Amanda Saccomanno) is Tough Enough season six, finalist. She lost the top prize to Sara Lee, but was signed to WWE Performance Center, with a five-years contract. She participated in the reality show 'Total Divas', for a season. Her last appearence on NXT TV (she had only two matches, televised) was in September 28, 2016, where she lost to Ember Moon. Most of the time she competed at NXT Live Events.
She is former fitness and figure competitor.
OVERALL:
Rose and Deville's Raw debuts, are surprising. Not that they don't have any experience or something! They work a lot of matches at live events, but they - especially Mandy Rose, have a limited TV experience. They don't have any memorable storyline, before Raw. Now, they have beat down Mickie James, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Alexa Bliss in one episode, by returning Paige's side. That is promising!
Actually, I was looking to see these two, working together. I am happy about them and I want to see more from them. I hope that we will see them working as a team in Raw, and doing some good things together. I am impressed by Rose's signature move - the Implant buster, because the last woman who use it in WWE was Kharma - a real powerhouse. Sonya's style is different and dynamic, and I hope that she will start to say something different than 'That's right, baby'!
SMACKDOWN LIVE'S DESTRUCTIVE DEVIANT TRIO
To have Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan attacking Naomi, Becky Lynch, Natalya and Charlotte Flair is kind of epic!
This is the second best angle this week! I am so happy for all three of them, and shock to see them on Team Blue!
Ruby Riot (Dori Prange) is one of the quickest career developing Superstars. She was signed to WWE in January 2017, debuted in February at Live events, just to attack Nikki Cross at March 22, episode of NXT, which started her TV career and paved the way for her appearance at NXT TakeOver: Orlando on April 01.
Now she's on SmackDown Live! And the year is not over, yet.
Better Known as Heidi Lovelace at the independent scene the inked Superstar put foot on the rings of SHIMMER, SHINE, CHIKARA, Beyond Wrestling, World Wonder Ring Stardom in Japan. But I remember her career started in OVW, where she had feud with Taeler Hendrix.
In NXT, Ruby participated in several NXT Women's title matches, against then-champion Asuka and Nikki Cross. She faced Ember Moon and the Iconic Duo on several occasions. Overall, Riot is one of the best WWE recruits ever and I was expecting her to have one reign as NXT Women's Champion! But C'est la vie! Now we may see her as SmackDown or Raw Women's Champion! Why not?
I have never hide my appreciation for Liv Morgan (Gionna Daddio). The girl who started her dream path with backyard wrestling, with her brothers, now is a SmackDown Live Superstars!
Morgan, was signed to WWE NXT / Performance Center in October 2014. (Can you believe this - a 3 years veteran). She made her TV debut on November 4 episode of NXT, losing to Eva Marie, under the ring name Marley. In her NXT career she faced the likes of Emma, The Iconic Duo, Ember Moon, and many other talented girls. The peak and fall at the same time moment, back there, was her challenge to Asuka, for the NXT Women's title. She was defeated in under a minute.
I enjoyed this young woman's desire to learn and perform new moves. She can surprise you in every single match with her participation. I am so pleasently surprised to see her in SmackDown Live and as one friend of AWOW said and I agree with him: I just can't wait to see her developing this heel character!
I love Sarah Logan (Sarah Bridges) and for me, her and Mandy Rose calls up were the most stunning! I am so happy for her.
I'm interested in this young lady WWE's career since the day I've learned that they were signing her as a part of their class of recruits. I know her as Crazy Mary Dobson, a serious competitor on the independent stage. Now I was happy to see her having the opportunity to shine bright on a biggest stage.
Actually she made sporadic appearence long before being signed - as Kane's assistant, as Sarah Dobson facing Bayley and Alexa Bliss. She was signed by WWE in October 2016. Her TV debut wa sin a tag team with Macey/Lacey Evans lossing to the Iconic Duo in January 11, 2017 episode of NXT. Later she will lose two matches to Peyton Royce.
The peak of her career, at this point is her participation with other 31 women in the inaugural Mae Young Classic. She was defeated in a sort of main event match, for the episode, by the stunning Mia Yim, after a really great and hard match! That definitely establish her as a serious competitor.
Her last appearence in NXT was on October 25th episode, where she participated in Battle Royal, that was won by Nikki Cross, as the award for the winner was the last spot in the NXT Women's Title Fatal-4-Way match at NXT TakeOver: War Games.
Now, without being included in the NXT official roster, just competing on live events, she made this amazing jump into the Blue brand women's roster, which she deserve, because she is one of the hardest and serious former-NXT perspectives.
OVERALL:
I don't want to be a bad messenger, but I think that these two alliances are temporary and will be short. If you look at Riot, Morgan and Logan you can see three, colorful, deviant, totally different women. Three totally different characters! Individualists! Any of these three specific women is capable to accomplish a lot on her own, if booked correctly!
So, for now let's enjoy their dark alliance! But keep one thought in your mind: Don't get used to it! It will not last long!
