After a series of bad news this week, starting with Paige's suspension and continuing in the same spirit, WWE SmackDown Live women's division tag team match destiny is on hiatus.
The SDL GM Daniel Bryan and the Commissioner Shane McMahon, know the importance of that match for SDL women, especially for the NXT's additions - Carmella and Alexa Bliss. It was important and for Eva Marie's return! It was Naomi's big return after her inactivity for months due to injury.
While Becky and Natalya had their chance to appear on PPVs this year, for the injured and the newcomers, SummerSlam is the biggest thing for them this year. Alexa and Carmella didn't appeared in TakeOver (Carmella- appeared in a pre-tape match on TakeOver:Brooklyn, broadcasted in a later NXT TV episode) as a singles competitors and this actually is their official PPV debut at all.
But what possibilities are open for SDL Authorities. The match is not canceled. On WWE.com you can read about the opportunities that lay in front of Natalya and Alexa Bliss.

So let look at the situation, closely:
1. HANDICAP MATCH
It's obvious that the first opportunity is to have a handicap match. 3 on 2! Natalya and Alexa are good enough to stand in that kind of match. But that is not the problem. We expect an equal match. Match with equal power and numbers. Naomi, Becky Lynch and Carmella are destined to overcome the duo, if the match become a handicap. There is no intrigue in that!
Of course they can book Alexa and Natalya as a winners, but that will be flat and stupid, eve if it is make for the push of Bliss and Nattie. It's a stupid idea!
2. RECRUITING A PARTNER
Who?
Are they allowed to recruit someone from RAW? Because there are no other active women in SDL's roster.
One of the opportunity is to recruit someone from RAW, like Nia Jax or Dana Brooke, who are both heels and both are free for SummerSlam!
We are sure that RAW Authorities will not be happy about the idea and it will not happened, since both brands are in war for rating! So, this is kind of impossible, according to logic.
The other opportunity, according to the latest good news is, Nikki Bella or Rosa Mendes to made their return as heels for SDL! Rosa is not that good choice, not because she is not a valuable competitor -NO! Rosa is a great addition to every roster, but not an appropriate choice for SDL's biggest women's match of the summer. If they chose her it will be a surprise, but the moment when the fans see her on the ramp, they will know how the match is about to end on 90%. With a lose for Natalya's team! Mendes is associated mostly with her jobbing, she is not famous with her victories! Sorry, but that is the bitter fact!
Nikki on the other hand, was more appropriate to return as a face. But the situation insist for a cruel measures. Bella was good as heel, so she can return in the same old fashion instead of refreshing her image and gimmick.I think that there are a lot of fans (like me) who wished to see her as a good girl for a difference, competing against Natalya, Alexa and Eva.
The Rumors!!!
It looks like the rumors are just ... rumors, but the last few weeks, the situation around the women's division, was heated by two very "too good to be true" rumors on the Internet. Melina and Victoria were involved in these rumors, according to rehiring of many former male-Superstars - like Rhyno, Jinder Mahal and etc. These surprising returns gave us a HOPE, that WWE was able to smash as they always do! But we can still have our "conspiracy theory"-alike dreams about Victoria, returning in WWE ring and Widow Peaking Carmella at SummerSlam! :)
Me and my colleagues are not able to give a prediction, we didn't dare. We think that there will be 3 vs. 3 tag team match on SummerSlam, but there are still a high percentage, possibility to see a Handicap match, as well.
I think that SDL is in lead, for now, due to these emotional suspense and turns of the situation.
