This week's SmackDown Live took a different approach from Raw!
Despite the fact that we had three MITB participants from the Blue Brand competing in the ring, the whole thing was oriented and pre-set for development of the women's tag team division.
Of course, the IIconics appeared again, as they appeared on Raw, this Monday, in school-girls bullying the audience segment. Nothing interesting to be mentioned specially.
SONYA DEVILLE & MANDY ROSE defeated CARMELLA & EMBER MOON
In a back and forth battle, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville scored an important victory against Ember Moon and Carmella.
Carmella squared off with both Rose and Deville and tried to put a good stand against them. Mandy was successful in brutalizing Mella until Ember Moon entered the fry and brought total punishment for The God Greatest Creation.
Everything went out of control when Sonya Deville stopped Moon's pin attempt and received superkick by Carmella. The Princess of Staton Island was dropped down with a high knee by Rose and everyone got out off the ring, except the War Goddess.
Down there Ember Moon successfully connected with suicide dive on Sonya who pushed Mandy away. Mandy made another high knee on Moon and brought her back in the ring for her Implant buster and the three counts.
Deville and Rose's celebration was cut short when Paige and her team (Kairi Sane and Asuka) came on the top of the ramp. The former SDL GM announced that her Japanese recruits are looking to went through the entire tag team division and they will start with Sonya and Mandy next week.
Recap:
As long as you know Mandy Rose, Ember Moon, and Carmella - all three of them will compete in the 2019 women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match next Sunday, for the opportunity to win the contract that guarantees a title shot at any time, anywhere.
But in the end, the match was used as an ideal set up for a tag team war, finally! I love the idea of Asuka and Kairi Sane facing Mandy and Sonya on their way to the WWE Women's Tag Team gold. We need some serious tag team fights to bring more validation and legitimation to the belts, as the IIconics are busy to run in on every show and yapping their mouths without competing in the ring. That will bring some life to the women's tag team division overall.
