AEW DYNAMITE MAY 17, 2023 RESULTS

What was that?

I was about to start with "Adaptation is a huge thing!", when  I saw the match.

NO!

It was more like this:

With Saraya as a manager.

The reason why the AEW Women's World Champion Janie Hayter wasn't present was the usual job-related accident, i.e. being attacked backstage and not being medically cleared to compete... Yeah, the usual stuff!

Respect to Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D, for being tough and selling well the best beat-down eating in history... Just kidding! But, respect to Britt. She's a real AEW Original, no matter who from WWE will emerge in her house.

The match was filled with Outcasts' dirty play. Sneak hit here, hair pull there, beat-down outside the ring by the manager. Exactly what you expect to see from heels like Saraya's girls and her pale majesty.

And then Hikaru Shida, who made me happy at the very beginning with a sweet hurricanrana on Storm, entered the ring and started to exchange elbows with Ruby Soho... "Exchange elbows" and hits will be too exaggerated because even botch queens like Jackie Gayda, can sell better blows. Go, and watch that again! And again!

Sorry, guys, but it was awkward! What was that? Both women just stood in the center of the ring and swing elbows in the air, without even simulating a blow! I am not a trainer or a pro wrestler but even I can recognize bad "sell" when I see one. And that was elementary and bad.

Also, Saraya's fall from the ring post with Toni Storm almost caught her in her hands like a groom who is caring for the bride! Keep her safe, eh!

Britt Baker made a really funny, out-of-the-fantasy-realm double-team maneuver, manipulating somehow Toni Storm to plant a DDT on her own tag team partner Soho while receiving a neckbreaker! That was fun and unrealistic! I will close my eyes and will brand it as "fun" and will stop commenting on it.

Looking at this match which was strange and like sewed in the last moment, I think that they should repeat Anna Jay vs. Julia Hart, from the last week! Hart's and Jay's match looks way more solid now, compared to the bad sell of Shida!

The end of the agony came with a cheap shot of course! We need more heat and more air-hitting blows and feather punches into the empty space! The spray can be Baker's doom and after that cheap shot, the Outcasts (surprise, surprise) took the victory!

WINNERS: THE OUTCASTS' TONI STORM AND RUBY SOHO

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐/5

OVERALL:

I gave them three stars because of the Superstars' power invested and presented. Took two, for the absence of Hayter! I think that next time when this match is played as it's promised, it would be way much better.

It's funny because I watched Shida in a few matches and she looked really good. Especially, against Serena Deeb. That one was really good. Maybe it wasn't her night!

The Outcast! It hits me now - The Outcast from (WWE), as it looks. People will never forget that and it's part of your legacy, like it or not, girls...

I have a lot of respect for AEW, and how hard they worked to be here, how much new stuff like inclusion and diversity they presented in their roster. Their women's division is a curiosity to me. So much star power to boost everything and all of it spread in AEW Dark, ROH, and who knows where... It looks like Saraya and friends really made it their home, and Baker, Hayter, Shida, and the other Originals are desperately trying to reclaim their places.

For me, personally: You need more work and more women's matches!
