COUNTING REIGNS

WWE proves that the facts can be sacrificed in the name of hype, heat, and entertainment!

It doesn't matter for many fans, who are there just to watch the match or follow a Superstar...

Well, for us it's kind of controversial.

Actually, the title's history reflects the legacy and accomplishments.

Let's see several examples of facts, changed in the name of hype:

The WWE Women's Championship was introduced as a 'new title' at Wrestlemania 32. Okay, that may not impress you much, but it has created its own history starting from Charlotte Flair's initial victory and now continues on as the Raw Women's Championship title. In reality, it is a reintroduction of a Championship! They could have merged the previous Women's titles histories into one, but WWE decided to start with 'a blank page'... If it was possible they might have erased the WWF/WWE Women's Title history, but the fact that the old belt gave us tons of legacy and legends, related to it, has stopped them from doing it!

Of course, we had the WWE Divas Championship belt which at one point was unified with the classic title, ending the historical tradition that included names like Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Melina, etc. Then that title was dropped and the new/reintroduced title was presented.

The situation is not the same as other 'new title'. The WWE Women's Tag Team Gold. Well, here they can argue that the old title belts weren't under the WWE logo - but they are historical facts related to the WWE's history. The Women's Tag Team title was reintroduced, as well. But they want us to forget the teams that had written their names on the old titles history pages. Controversy.

On to the topic:

After Charlotte's big win on Tuesday night (the one that changes everything before WM 35), another fact for the Queen hit the Internet. Charlotte Flair is now an 8-time Women's champion (1-time Divas, 4-times for Raw, and 3-times for SmackDown). If we add her 1-NXT Women's title reign we can name her a 9-time champion. But the flaw with all of this is the moment when they compare her title reigns record to that of Hall of Famer Trish Stratus' record.

For me, there is no comparison between the two reigns.

Charlotte reigns are combined reigns - reigns of all of her WWE titles. Trish Stratus 7-title reigns are single title reign with the old WWE Women's Championship. How it's possible to compare combined reigns with a single reign? Especially, when Stratus didn't have an opportunity to win other titles, only because at her time there were NOT any other Women's titles to compete for...

The fact is that Charlotte's record will beat Stratus accomplishment as the 8-time Raw or SmackDown Women's Champion. At this point Charlotte is the woman with the most combined reigns, Stratus is the woman with most singles reigns, yet!

But the decision of what to follow is yours...

It's all about hype, heat, and entertainment!
