Everything started with the article which announced that Rousey is not advertised/booked in events after WrestleMania 35. Pro Wrestling Sheet came up with more details on the topic that sites more point of views. One of them is that Ronda Rousey is under contract with WWE until April, 2021.
There was that heated Twitter war with Becky Lynch, that crossed the kayfabe's borders and many people familiar with the business, shared their thoughts that Rousey might have pissed off the Authorities.
Since her debut, there were some problems with the Rowdy one. A lack of mic skills at the beginning, poor squash match against Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam, and a lot of troubles surrounding her fitting in the ring and with the company. But all of this was sort of resolved and compensated (oh that line: 'The only door you broke was the door to John Cena's bedroom', addressing Nikki Bella).
She started to fit in, slowly, and we got used to it. We started to like her as a WWE Superstar.
Now, the future looks ... controversial.
Ronda Rousey might lose her title at WrestleMania to Becky Lynch. There are serious signs for it. If this happen, she might take some time off. It's usual for former title holders to have a break, after exhausting reign (for example: AJ Lee post-WrestleMania loss to Paige and her hiatus for several months). But there is possibility her contract to be terminated if she insists (and has a good lawyer).
These past two-three weeks, it looks like Rousey is missing the real fight and she has had enough of the scripted rivalries and matches. It looks like her big dream is turning to a nightmare, and in her last Raw in-ring segment with Stephanie McMahon, Charlotte and Becky, she spoke about the business... well her words sounded terribly honest. The message was 'I had enough'... And this short after her Tweets controversy. That is the impression and the feelings she left in me. I hope I am wrong.
Leaving or not, Rousey's absence might not be that big of a problem. There are bunch of talents that could quickly take her spot, and we already have named one - Becky 'The Man' Lynch. It will be sad, because Ronda had the potential to develop her in-ring skills even further - she is so athletic. But she really needs some time off. It looks like the heat in WWE was somehow quite too much.
But the last word is Rousey's word. We will sit and wait to hear from her and WWE after WM 35.
Until then we can wait for the anticipated Women's Main Event Triple Threat!
