She was supposed to be top heel on SmackDown Live's roster.
Now she is one of the most cheered Superstars in the whole company.
Where did WWE's creatives go wrong with her character?
We know that Becky Lynch was booked as a heel who started to chase Charlotte Flair at the end of the last year. And what a chase we got, eh? Epic. The Man was total villain or she was a total villain in the eyes of the WWE creatives. But they missed something.
Without realising it they touched a really sensitive spot in WWE Universe heart - almost everyone in the audience, in front of the TV, had had the same experience that drove Lynch to the Dark Side. chance that was stolen from us. We had been robbed of opportunities. And then we had Becky Lynch, who earned a second title reign opportunity with a match against Carmella, one-on-one and then, BAM! Out of nowhere: the great babyface Charlotte Flair, the face and embodiment of the blue brand women's division (for the McMahons), was added to the match and goes on to win it. All of us remember how Becky snapped - and we all cheered!
Becky Lynch's character was turned into embodiment of our life robbed by chances and unfairly sidelined by someone with power. She became the vision of a fighter for justice, not the jealous woman as it was planned. WWE just missed that interpretation and missed the circulating opinion that Lynch deserve her title. At the end they had Charlotte as a pushed through babyface and Becky as a fan favorite wannabe-villain.
Today, things are in their rightful place - Becky is an aggressive face, who chases her opportunities even on one leg, while Charlotte is the heel, who once again is trying to screw our girl. In the light of the previous events, we think that Lynch has all chances to win at WrestleMania 35 and to add another huge victory in her records for 2019, after the Royal Rumble.
Ovearall, WWE got the right course at the beginning, they actually had a heel, but she was fan favorite heel. So, in the way of the tradition, they slowly turned her into same arrogant and aggressive character, but now she is dark babyface. Fan favorite, who doesn't cover the traditional role of face which is something fresh and nice and it happens from time to time.
