OVERVIEWS: WWE SMACKDOWN MAY, 01 - FLUKE AND AMBUSHES

Who is Carmella, except for the last SmackDown qualified for Women's MITB Ladder Match? (we are talking k*y*a*e, don't forget! 😉)

Carmella is the first Money In The Bank Ladder match-winner who had the briefcase handed to her. Carmella won her title after cashing in her briefcase on the smashed by the IIconics, Charlotte Flair. Yeh, it's in the rule book but comes on it's not the competitive way in any case to win a belt! Well, while Alexa Bliss and Bayley did their 'legal dirty work' on their own to win their cash-ins, Carmella was the sneakiest one who entered the ring and capitalize after a beat down by two people over the Queen!

Then Asuka! She retained her belt from Asuka thanks to the same man who handed her the briefcase and forced a reboot of the inaugural MITB women's match.

I need you to keep this in mind. Because Carmella is a good girl these days. She's still good in the ring, she was always good. She is good at losing with dignity. She is good at causing drama which is a huge deal in the business! Actually the whole Qualifying match... I will blow up like a bomb! Calm down! The whole match was about someone else's drama. Despite Carmella won the qualifying, it was ALL ABOUT Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. The focus was on them. Deville was a really good distraction to Rose, despite I am thinking how Rose earned a qualifying match, as well as Carmella.

The whole match was kind of 'two rabbits with one bullet' in general: Having a Qualifying match and extending the drama between Deville and Rose further!

It looks like we are back to the 'Land of Opportunities' SmackDown ideology, created by Daniel Bryan at the time. So most of the underrated Superstars in the women's locker room could finally got some momentum. Not that Rose needed that, she had her ongoing thing with Deville. They don't need a Ladder match (not that it won't help their rivalry, but - it is what it is). By chasing that idea for opportunity you are rubbing other stars. Not that the idea from time to time the big names to be stepping stones, it's happening. Now SmackDown sends three women as one of them can physically last against Raw's Masacare machine. Because what we saw on Raw on Monday is nothing! We have three potential Blue brand ordeals ready to be served next week.

So, it's kind of fluke. All, the qualifications in SmackDown were kind of fluke. Not that Lacey, Dana, and Carmella don't deserve some push, but against Baszler, Jax, and Asuka... Come on! I call this bloodshed. All the matches were somehow won with the last leg (Dana) and some distraction (Lacey and Carmella). No clear, raw wins as on Monday night.

Overall it looks like we are betting on the wild card and that is not that bad... I guess...

Sonya attacking Mandy post-match is nothing unexpected. What I am curious about is could we see a Kick-Off of these two. If they get it MITB will become a lot bluer this year (you know what I mean, Blue brand, Blue).

The battle backstage between Bayley and Sasha Banks on one side and Tamina and later joining the fry Lacey Evans, was there to set the things for one more match before MITB - A Tag team match next week! It was a nice standard ambush brawl with the usual fists and kicks flying. Classic. Now we can concentrate on the next week after that fruitful build up.

NEXT WEEK:

WWE SMACKDOWN WOMAN'S CHAMPION BAYLEY & SASHA BANKS vs. TAMINA & LACEY EVANS

RESULTS

👎 CARMELLA defeated MANDY ROSE, in the Women's Money In the Bank Ladder Match Qualifying battle.
