Two women will be inducted in the WWE Hall Of Fame adding their names to those of Trish Stratus, Alundra Blaze, Lita and more.
One of them is having a induction as a single Superstar, while the other will be inducted as part of the stable that helped build her career in then WWF.
ON TORRIE WISLON
I am happy for Torrie Wilson!
For a woman who didn't want to wrestle and was forced in the ring, in 2001-2002, to become a really competitive then-Diva that wasn't afraid to face the likes of Trish, Molly Holly, Victoria, Lita, Mickie James and Melina. That woman walked a memorable road in WWE. Well, not the kind of Stratus or the rest, but Stratus also starred in the degrading bikini matches!
I watched some classic videos with Wilson these past weeks. She had a lot of really entertaining moments. She wasn't only look, she had some wrestling abilities that fans forget about when she stepped in the ring, shining with her traditional Blond-Bombshell USA Look! Torrie made what of it she could. And that's not a small accomplishment.
During her career she helped putting SmackDown women's division on the map, aside from the fact that they didn't have the WWE Women's belt on their brand (actually Torrie is one of the women who crossed the brand's line and challenged for the belt, when Molly Holly was a Champion) and most of the famous Divas were on RAW. Her rivalries with Nidia, Shaniqua, Dawn Marie, Miss Jackie, Sable, especially the storylines with Marie and Sable, were pure entertainment in and outside the ring in all of their controversy. Actually, the controversy made them more memorable.
Let's not forget her relationships with her fellow former WCW star - Stacy Keibler. There were nice alliance and heated rivalry between these two! Well, most of their storylines presented them half naked, but Wilson and Keibler worked really well together.
Let's not forget that she participated in the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble match in 2018, which is a great mark of respect and one of the top moments in her WWE Career, as well as her participation in the Battle royal at Evolution, last year!
In the ring Torrie was someone who developed a lot from the beginning. Somehow, in time she became more confident when she hit a move. That confidence made her look more stable when she had to put a stand against more experienced then-Divas and she was able to put a good match on with them.
I think that she deserves that Hall of Fame spot, because she was representative of two generations of women in the ring of WWE. For me she is more than the traditional beauty, she evolved on her own.
Congratulations!
ON CHYNA:
Talking about controversy...
Chyna was and still is one of the legacy building wrestlers. She wrestled women and men. She won men's and women's titles. She was totally The 9th Wonder of The World and... after a scandalous departure from WWF/WWE, she turned to porn!
These days WWE is all about PG, family friendly content and it was hard for them to 'forgive' Chyna about her adult movies related career. But they did it! In the name of legacy. Post mortem. Of course they decided to include her with DX, instead as a single Superstar-Hall Of Fame, but that is enough at this point, aside form the fact that many other who deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, are still waiting.
