Not only name but talents who proved themselves on the independent wrestling scene. Now sitting on the bench in WWE NXT!
We know that there is a period of adjustment to WWE rules and standards, learning about the ins - and outs - of the ring policies and schedules. But that last around month or two, with several months for training and these women, mentioned up there is kind of a step ahead of their fellow trainees, who had really limited wrestling experience, there at WWE Performance Center.
DEONNA PURRAZZO - NICE START AND TV HIATUS
While we are at cloud nine about Mia Yim's career development, despite we haven't seen her for a while, we are a little bit curious about Deonna Purrazzo's fate. It looks like she is signed just to not be signed by other promotions. They started her NXT TV appearance with a nice short storyline, making her Dakota Kai's ally, for a match. Then nothing!
Then they sent her to NXT UK, which was a nice move because somehow they felt that it's not right to hide her
Purrazzo got talent and potential, with right booking to be one of the top names in NXT and future WWE Superstar. Right booking!
Suggestion: Give her work! She loves to work in the ring, so give it to her. At this point, she can emerge as an ally to different babyfaces. Maybe to job in a tag team matches against Vanessa Borne and Aliyah (because they are in a push, they needed, badly). Then teaming with Mia Yim and Dakota Kai against Baszler and co. It's not that hard. At one point they could even turn her to heel gimmick. The hard part is that every episode is pre-taped and it's hard to create a storyline because you don't know if tomorrow someone won't be called to the Main Roster. Overall there are a lot of scenarios for Deonna's involvement in NXT TV episodes.
It was amazing to see LeRae receiving attention and respect from WWE(finally), by been involved in the Women's Royal Rumble's match with other NXT talents. Maybe that was the first really important moment in her WWE/NXT career!
Now what?
Demoting to valet of her husband?
Candice LeRae is one of the greatest acquisitions in NXT. Since her debut, she had her win-loss time and eventually, she is ready to be involved more seriously with NXT projects. I believe her involvement in WrestleMania Axxess is a good start and pay of respect (that she deserves). We want to see more from her.
Suggestion: Make her face ally to the Baszler's Crew and The Visionaries opponents. Let her support Mia Yim, Dakota Kai, The Sky Pirates and the rest of the NXT faces. Make her struggle with Baszler and Borne's attacks. Then gave her the anticipated justice when she defeats them. There are a lot of combinations. Limited time.
From the indies scene to Mae Young Classic 2018! Lacey Lane obviously impressed WWE creatives and authorities with her in-ring presence so they allowed her to win two rounds in MYC tournament! Even Paige, when she was SDL GM, added more heat to Lane's character, by mention her as a possible addition to the Blue brand...
And what?
Nice TV debut in a tag team with another future sensation - Kacy Catanzaro! Their match ended in a no contest, 'thanks' to Baszler's Crew, but the crowd reaction for both women was stunningly positive! And there is a reason. Lane and Catanzaro are two of the most technically and charismatically gifted women, that we expect to see on TV, more often.
They are stunning!
Suggestion: The same as the previous two. Add her to the fight against Baszler's Crew terror and The Visionaries (Borne and Aliyah) dirty games. She is a suitable ally for everyone who needs her and good enough to have singles matches against every heel. Of course, in the beginning, she will job, for a while (always close to winning, until someone's heel interference). Then a nice push to the title picture.
Bad luck or misfortune stopped this ultimate talent from stepping seriously in WWE NXT TV ring's action! Winning your match with broken hand only proves that you are devoted and tough as nail.
I can't wait to see how they will integrate her into the whole picture in the women's division. She's stunning and there are a lot of possibilities for her. Now it's just a matter of time and recovering for Green. I think that they will push her further when she returns.
Suggestions: I want to see her messing around with Mia Yim and Deonna Purrazzo. That would be a nice booking strategy for green. Maybe some appearances on the Main Roster as a jobber (like Aliyah and Billie Kay had done in the past). Green's talent and popularity open the door for many scenarios and match-bookings. Just take her out of the locker room and put her between the ropes, when she is ready.
We missed to mentioned several names like Karen Q. (who will be a really good tag team partner for Xia Li), Kavita Devi (International Women's Force still exist in our List of Ideas - i.e. unite her with Conti), Reina Gonzalez (who works well with Rhea Ripley) and Kacy Catanzaro (The American Ninja Warrior who stuns us with her quick in-ring development). They are important and we are looking for them, hoping to see them in the nearest future.
For now, it's overcrowded in NXT! Not enough overcrowded to see the four women we introduced as a biggest and progressive former-indie icons. But eventually, we won't see the rest debuting (eventually Catanzaro against Baszler) full time on TV. One of our desperate hopes is that WWE will keep the international talents in its rosters and will debut Devi to add more to its 'the first ever' hype like 'The first Brazilian woman' and 'The first ever Indian woman' in WWE (United) and the first ever Chinese women's tag meta against the Japanese Sky Pirates, for example.
What will happen in the following months will be decided after next week's NXT Takeover: New York. Also, we are looking forward to seeing, the clash between Bianca Belair and Kairi Sane. For now, NXT is the land of talents and opportunities, and it's hard to predict which star will grab the creatives attention.
