Three matches involving Knockouts in one show, as we told you that the mixed one will happen, following the way of logic and momentum...
Revenge unsuccessful. Legend vs. Future Legend, while Hall of Famer is watching from the first row. Champions faced Challengers.
Impact Wrestling is getting serious on the way to Rebellion PPV at the end of the month (April 28).
SU YUNG vs. ROSEMARY
The commentators called the end of this match 'no contest', for me it was DQ or more count out... Whatever!
'Usual' doesn't mean bad! 'Usual' means that both women gave their best and classic moves in the match and the match was suitable to keep the storyline continuing and evolving going on and get more heat. The match was interesting with several moves in the ropes and the turnbuckles. The Undead Brides Army interfered in their horrific manner and ... Kiera Hogan came down the ring to help Rosemary... which led to a battle with the brides and the bell rang for the end of the match with a 'no contest' ?! (Technically, that was DQ victory for Rosemary)
And then the post-match annihilation happened as first Rosemary was brutalized by Yung and ended at the receiving end of a 'Panic Switch' as Kiera Hogan was forced to watch helplessly before she got nailed with the same move...
Recap:
The Undead Story takes a new turn. A turn that may grant Rosemary and Kiera Hogan a match at Rebellion versus the Undead Bride and her army. Last night's events even open the door for a Handicap Match, that might be a curious and interesting creative decision (Hogan and Rosemary vs. Su Yung).
Overall, it was a good build up... I am curious about what is happening next.
MADISON RAYNE defeated TESSA BLANCHARD
With Gail Kim on the announcers' table, this match was really one of a hell of.
Madison Rayne started with very athletic domination over the distracted Blanchard - some headscissors takedown, interesting diving hurricanrana... The Queen Bee really leveled up her game, despite her unsuccessful returning match, last week.
Tessa Blanchard was obsessed with her Rebellion opponent - Gail Kim. Even in the moments where she totally dominated the 5-time KO Champion Rayne, Blanchard's mind was in a different place.
At the end Gail Kim played the role of moral compass, taking the steel chair of Tessa's hands, which angered the audience that was behind Blanchard all of the time.
Recap:
Really, interesting match, with past and future history in it. Everything was set great for the development and heat of the Blanchard vs. Kim's match on April 28.
Watching Tessa Blanchard I can stop thinking how WWE missed that talent and how great she is. The public reaction proves it. They cheer her, despite the fact that she is a heel. As I told you not so long time ago - the fans are cheering for new names with real wrestling talents, no matter what role they have. The audience is appreciating the technique, the quality of the female wrestlers, not their appearance, not their gimmick, FINALLY! It doesn't matter that much that you are 5 or 7 times Champion. It matters what are you bringing in the ring and even aggression like Tessa's was welcomed!
WORLD CHAMPION JOHNNY IMPACT AND KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION TAYA VALKYRIE defeated BRIAN CAGE AND JORDYNNE GRACE,
In a MIXED TAG TEAM MAIN EVENT
The referee secured Johnny and Taya's victory!
While the ending didn't involve the ladies, they had their stunning moments in the match as Jordynne Grace showed us how serious is she about winning the title at Rebellion. At one point Johnny Impact shocked his wife by refusing to tag himself in after Valkyrie was exhausted after a serious clash with Grace. He didn't want to have anything with Cage at that point. Well, he interfered to save his wife by tripping Jordynne in the next moment, as a form of compensation for his refusal to tag in.
The match went into an exchange of domination and moves. Near the end, both Challengers flew through and over the ropes targeting Johnny Impact.
In the end, when Brian Cage had Impact set for a finisher, the referee Johnny Bravo tripped Cage, by hitting him in the back of his knee. That led to Johnny Impact executing his maneuver and winning the match.
Of course, there was a post-match beat down on Brian Cage who was furious and attacked the referee, but Taya stopped him with Low Blow, just to join her husband in a kicking session over the fallen #1 Contender for the Impact World Title.
Recap:
We kind of predicted that this match will happen. The way it ended slingshot the heat meter into the skies. Overall, it was a really great ending of the evening with three Lucha Underground Superstars (Taya, Johnny, and Cage) and one really promising indie Star (Grace).
The road to Rebellion looks really rough! We have two weeks for future development of the storylines, despite the fact that all of them look solid at this point and I am okay with all of them.
I hope to see Rosemary and Su Yung added to Rebellion if it's possible. That would be interesting. I will make my prediction as soon as we are near to the PPV and I already have some ideas/intuition related views.
