Don't Miss This One: Willow Nightingale vs. Persephone for the TBS Gold Tonight

After her massive victory over Mercedes Moné — winning back the CMLL Women's World title for Mexico — the talented Persephone is riding that momentum. All eyes in the industry are on her, and she is making every second count.

This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, the TBS Championship of the no less decorated and talented Willow Nightingale — also a Moné rival with a history to tell — will be up for the taking by the Mexican superstar.

This is one of those matches where making a prediction is hell. Fifty-fifty. Luckily, that's not my main goal here. My goal is simple: present both competitors, and put some analytical words to it — the participants, the possibilities.

Because here's the thing: this is a match where there are genuinely no losers. Yes, someone will be defeated — the champ or the challenger — but whoever loses will gain fame, momentum, and more recognition regardless.

Personally? I wouldn't mind seeing the TBS belt change hands. Especially after watching a talent like Kris Statlander — one of the best in the division — lose the AEW Women's World title to Thekla, a relative newcomer to AEW (though far from a newcomer to the sport, with a decorated career in Stardom Japan behind her). Persephone is no less prominent and no less championship material than the Toxic Spider herself. And Nightingale will make any title loss look, if not epic, at least hard-fought and worthy.

On the other hand, Willow retaining makes her reign more compelling and draws in more hungry mid-card and above talents who want a shot at her gold. A strong champion is a magnet.

Whatever AEW creative has booked tonight — I'm open to it.

Tras su enorme victoria sobre Mercedes Moné — recuperando el Campeonato Mundial Femenino del CMLL para México — la talentosa Persephone sigue aprovechando su momento al máximo. Todos los ojos de la industria están puestos en ella, y está haciendo que cada segundo cuente.

Este miércoles en AEW Dynamite, el Campeonato TBS de la no menos destacada y talentosa Willow Nightingale — también rival de Moné, con una historia que merece contarse — estará en juego para la superestrella mexicana.

Este es uno de esos combates donde hacer una predicción es un infierno. Cincuenta y cincuenta. Por suerte, ese no es mi objetivo principal aquí. Mi objetivo es simple: presentar a las dos competidoras y poner en palabras un análisis — las participantes, las posibilidades.

Porque esto es lo importante: este es un combate en el que realmente no hay perdedoras. Sí, alguien será derrotada — la campeona o la retadora — pero quien pierda ganará fama, impulso y más reconocimiento de todas formas.

¿Personalmente? No me molestaría ver cambiar el Campeonato TBS de manos. Especialmente después de ver a una talento como Kris Statlander — una de las mejores de la división — perder el Campeonato Mundial Femenino de AEW ante Thekla, una recién llegada a AEW (aunque para nada novata en el deporte, con una brillante carrera en Stardom Japón a sus espaldas). Persephone no es menos prominente ni menos material de campeona que la propia Toxic Spider. Y Nightingale sabrá hacer que cualquier pérdida del título se vea, si no épica, al menos bien peleada y merecida.

Por otro lado, que Willow retenga hace su reinado más atractivo y atrae a talentos hambrientos de oro del mid-card hacia arriba que quieren su oportunidad. Una campeona fuerte es un imán.

Lo que AEW creative haya reservado para esta noche — estoy abierta a ello.
