SMACKDOWN RESULTS APR. 17, 2020: GRAND VICTORY, COMPENSATIONS AND MIXED TAG DRAMA

The three announce women's events were all over the spectrum of possible forecasts - from easy to say what will happen (the girlfriends' drama) to the surprise winner in an important match that raises a lot of questions (guess who I am talking about).

 A MOMENT OF SHOCK

First, we had a Moment of Bliss edition hosted by the two-time newly crowned WWE Women's Tag Team Champions - Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

Their guest was the WWE Universal Champion Braun Strawman! During the interview, the Champ told us about how he knows Bray Wyatt and his tactics and then... He found a mysterious gift... When he opened the box he found the Black Sheep mask, for his own horror.

TAMINA defeated  SASHA BANKS,
TO BECOME A #1 CONTENDER FOR WWE SMACKDOWN WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

Tamina finally got what she wanted and she just destroyed The Boss to get there... In a total back and forth, dramatic match with a lot of drama in it the dust settled and we had a new #1 Contender eventually for MITB and possible tag team match on SmackDown.

At one point in the match, it looked like the Samoan Superstars won't be able to win as she was forced brutally in the ring post. Bayley stood up over the fallen Tamina with a shoe in her hand and then Lacey Evans run-in for the safe. Minutes later one Superkick knocked out the arrogant Banks and here she is:

Tamina is the new contender for the WWE SmackDown Women's title, and Bayley is not happy neither with that fact, neither with Banks' loss.

DANA BROOKE defeated NAOMI,
TO QUALIFY FOR THE WOMEN'S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH

I have no words...

Actually, I am keeping them for the Overview part.

It was a nice match, between two competitors with a sort of different styles, as Brooke can be very strengthful and dominant, as well as she can pull some acrobatics.

In the end, one missed moonsault by Naomi was a mistake that came to cost her the victory and the well-deserved place.  Sunset flip by Brooke and 3 counts!

Well, congrats! Brooke is the first SmackDown entrant...

SONYA DEVILLE AND MANDY ROSE 'CLEARED THE AIR'

With words like 'Centerfold B**itch' :) ;) there is no going back... soon!

This time the conflict of these two, five years friends was more heated and vicious as Deville pointed out that she was always in the Rose shadow and there is some reasoning in this statement.

Then Dolph Ziggler showed up, the fists started to fly between the ladies, Otis emerged from backstage and... And...

O V E R V I E W:

A Moment of Bliss was used for its usual purpose - to elevate a storyline. Nothing new here. Nice and usual!

I am from happy to a bit indifferent and curious - so many feelings, about Tamina's victory. We have expected it guys. It's an interesting a bit touch and this day WWE is doing whatever they can to shock us in a really illogical way. We will wait for our Banks vs. Bayley rivalry, more... I really wished someone to step in and raise the stakes and bring the twist from the authoritative figures. But! Well, okay! We have Tamina vs Bayley, in WWE SmackDown Women's Championship match down the road and if they give the title to Tamina (which is madness) I don't care! I want (I think many of you, as well) to see epic Banks vs. Bayley match for the gold. We also might see Evans and Tamina vs. Bayley and Sasha, these weeks.

Well, the real shocker for me was Dana Brooke's win. I don't have anything against the person behind the character. I don't love the way that the character is pushed everywhere. In this case, the whole win looks like a compensation game - 'Oh, you missed WrestleMania so we will compensate you with a spot in MITB match, which you might never win if we follow the logic, but we don't... We do whatever we want!'. I am not worried about Naomi, because she was in that match before, she had a title shot when she returned in a historical fashion, she will GLOW bright again... But this match's ending - it was all about compensation. Brooke next to Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler and Asuka, well - that is a ridiculous push! Somehow I know that they will give her some Wow! spots, eventually a powerbombing of someone on a ladder...but that is not the issue.

Mandy and Sonya. It looks like we will have a Mixed Tag Team match soon, eventually om MITB, eventually in its kick-off. We expected that and that was the most easily predictable segment. What I hope is to see some one-on-one action in SmackDown. Better than nothing.
