With a new Knockout and some World Champ domination in the Main event, Impact Wrestling marked the week in a positive way. Really good news, because the KO's division was stuck and now it has some action in it. This week we haven't seen the Dead Relm, after last week's ending, but overall it was a nice small package that you can enjoy.
KYLIE RAY defeated CASSANDRA GOLD
This match was a sort of WWE style. You have a new face in the main roster and you send her to defeat a jobber. Nothing bad. You are giving chance to a rising indie to appear on your show and pushing your new talent (remember Nia Jax on RAW, how many indie jobbers she squashed?!).
the match was really dynamic, with a bit of surprise. It wasn't a squash, they even allowed Gold to kick out after Rae's finisher. I can say that Kylie is a really impressive, performer! She ended the battle with STF to win her debut match under contract.
Then Kylie Rae gave an interview where she confirmed that Impact Wrestling is her new 'home'.
Overview:
Well, Kylie Rae really had an amazing 2019. She was in AEW where according to rumors she had some issues and then went on to the independent scene to gain more experience under her belt. She is an indie sensation already and this signing could be a real KOs division landscape changer.
Overall, it's always nice to see fresh faces.
IMPACT WORLD CHAMPION TESSA BLANCHARD defeated 1/2 IMPACT TAG TEAM CHAMPION ETHAN PAGE /W. 1/2 TAG TEAM CHAMPION JOSH ALEXANDER/
I can say that Impact Wrestling really gave a new face and bigger stage for the Intergender Wrestling and make it more appealing.
After losing last week's mixed tag team match, where she teamed with Eddie Edwards, this week the World Champ looked determined to grab the victory at any cost. Well, her opponent, another gold belt owner in Impact Wrestling, was arrogant and disrespectful from the beginning. She received a cruel knee in the back backbreaker, took a suplex and only her quickness helped her to avoid a cornered avalanche bodypress from Page. One beautiful top-rope hurricanrana gave Tessa some advantage. Surprising reversal into neckbreaker. Suicide dive. Blanchard take control until Josh Alexander caused some distraction and it looks like she might be in trouble... Naah, stunning tilt-a-whirl Tornado DDT that deserves an award by the World Champion, set her back in control.
In the end, Alexander tried to push Blanchard of the top rope, Eddie Edwards save the day. The Champ did her diving codebreaker on Page and won the match. What followed was the build-up to the triple threat match at Rebellion. Edwards and Blanchard had some time pulling the title belt from both sides, until Michael Elgin, the third participant in the forthcoming World Title Match entered the ring and nailed them with a double clothesline and threw some punches.
In the end, the ring was clear from Elgin and everyone stared at each other. Are you excited about this triple threat?
Overview:
The nice build-up for the Rebellion's World Title match. The whole Champion vs. Champion thing was sort of a warm-up, against all odds, two on one drama, that leads to the final confrontation.
I am following Blanchard's career development, especially after the racism and bullying controversy. I decided to be clear. I am into her in-ring career, not into her private, backstage issues. I am not supporting that kind of stuff at all, but it's too shady and I don't want to comment it. I prefer to concentrate on the ring action. She is doing the intergender wrestling more appealing. It's not the old days WWF/E where women entered the ring to be smashed and later eventually saved by a man. Now we have a woman who is kicking men's butts who is the USA First Main promotion holder of the Main, World Title. Let's not forget that!
