They were promising, colorful, unique, from countries out of the UK, which make the brand more inclusive and European and now they are gone!!!
Lack of stories! Lack of booking! Lack of imagination!
I don't buy this! Especially, for a small, well-packed women's division NXT UK or as it was and still is, because two are gone, but two were signed.
No matter what, these releases were harmful!
And now we have two new additions, who might be even more suitable if the previous two released were still here!
JAZZY GABERT's RELEASE
Fans wanted her signed since MYC 2017. I wanted her signed, so when I saw her as a part of the roster, teaming with Jinny, who is an astonishing heel and really talented wrestler I thought I can finally be happy about having her in WWE!
Well, you should never relax, when it comes to WWE. They have stupidly released many ultra-talented women for nothing (like Ivelisse (for arguing and being ambitious) and Emma (I think the same reasons)) or 'lack of storylines'...
With the division of a 9-women, you might always find a storyline and some bookings. I thought that Jazzy is doing fine because she really had something going on and she had a match against Piper. Two powerhouses, who might be booked as rivals. And that might be great because of there not many powerhouses in the other rosters who are opposing each other!
The excuse of releasing the German Superstar Gabert was flat and this is a huge loss of an impressive, colorful and talented character! I will miss her eventual turn on Jinny!
Stupid decision!
KILLER KELLY: THE SURPRISING NEXT TO GO
No more Portuguese wrestlers in the UK! Or just in the NXT UK women's roster...
Killer Kelly's WWE career started with an epic, super highly ranked match against the Japanese Legend Meiko Satomura at MYC 2018 and it went into regular, stable work for NXT UK. She did some great jobbing for the likes of Piper Niven, Toni Storm, Dakota Kai, etc. winning in dark matches. She definitely deserved more. She is a stable and really good wrestler who helped that division, who helped to build all of the women in it and she deserved more, not this as payback.
Do you know what? This trick is not something new. Promotions have used it for years: When you have two very talented women, especially with a common trait (both were foreigners) you can make a team, alliance, to push them over.
NEW FACES
Two out, two in:
NXT UK signed Dani Luna and it wasn't that huge announcement as the signing of Aoife Valkyrie!
Aoife Valkyrie |
I didn't have the opportunity to watch her debut against Amale. I watched highlights from her match against Isla Dawn and I was stunned by her match with Nina Samuels! Aoife Valkyrie is a total Champion Package. Progressively rising, super talented, charismatic and ready for big wins. I really hope to see her next in line for the KLR's NXT UK Women's belt. After the Piper Niven situation of course, because Niven definitely is on a chance for a title match! I really hope to see Valkyrie as a Champion, maybe after two title matches (losing the first one to Ray after a cheap shot by the Champ, so there we will have a rematch and BAM! New Champion).
Dani Luna is definitely unfamiliar to me, but she looks so colorful (yes, I am over-using this word, but it's so suitable and expresses the mix of qualities that this kind of wrestler has). She definitely had some rivalries started since she was signed. Rivalries with the right people - Kay Lee Ray and Jinny! It would be nice to see more of her in the future. Maybe some teaming with Xia Brookside or some victories over indies for the beginning!
BONUS: SUGGESTIONS
I have two suggestions for signing. NXT UK should not limit its talent pool to up to 10. They need to grow up. The release of two great workers was a total shock (especially for me). Their division is built as a unique one. Their talents have the right to compete for other promotions, which Main rosters start are not allowed. An open-contract! So their women are freer to explore and gain experience that they might bring to NXT UK's ring.
Here are two women, who had or are working with NXT UK without a contract, but who made some impression and appeared several times:
CANDY FLOSS
A really interesting character that could be integrated into the NXT UK's Universe. She got the charisma and the skills and the warm reaction from the crowd to become an important figure in their women's roster.
AMALE
Amale Winchester has four tv-taped matches for the company and she was used as the first opponent for the Aoife Valkyrie's debut. She is promising European talent and she might use a contract with NXT UK and help to build further the division (like helping Isla Dawn and Nina Samuels, for example). Once in the roster - the opportunities are kind of limitless...
