Four women's matches! Four titles on the line! All of this in one really unique WrestleMania, in times of pandemic, without fans in the audience, rumored to be on several different locations and that will continue two nights -this Saturday (April 04) and Sunday (April 05).
Rumors flew before we had the matches announced and they were accurate, eventually not predicting the women's tag team match right.
Some of the matches were build-up slowly and carefully, with some action and a lot of words (NXT and Raw Women's belts). Some were announced and build quickly (SmackDown Women's Title match (two weeks and counting) and WWE Women's Tag Team Title match (a one-week build-up)).
Despite that, we will have the NXT Women's title defended for the first time at WM and we expect it to be great. We also expect a lot from the five-pack challenge, medium excitement for the tag team gold and some prayers for Raw's title...
Let's predict...
This one is harder to predict, despite involving only four women in two tag teams.
First, there is a problem with the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in general! It is so badly managed that I don't even know why it exists. This title opens up so many opportunities, there are so many teams in three even four brands established and waiting to be established and we are getting this? The tag team title is a title and it's good to see it at WM 36, even without serious building to it. So, I'll accept that and will expect WWE creatives to start paying attention to this title and to make it more valuable.
I remember that the Kabuki Warriors had been met with some mixed feelings as a team. In the last few months, they justify the negative critiques, as two individual Superstars that WWE pleasing by allowing them to keep the tag team title belts, just to be tied-up to the company somehow. Asuka spent most of the title reign playing solo and Kairi was her cheerleader, for most of the time except when she had some rare opportunity to play a solo on her own.
These two Japanese megastars who had the potential to elevate that title were used as title racks aside from the awful booking. If I was Asuka I would ask to be brought back to NXT or to let go. If I was Kairi Sane I will ask for release if nothing changes. Actually, the rumors say that this is what both women want. And I am so willing to believe these rumors. It's not too late. This match and the months after it might be vital for Kabuki Warriors. WWE has this choice: To let them win and start from scratch by turning the focus on the belts and elevating this title, or book them to lose to overpush Bliss and Cross and lose two international megastars, which they already waste.
Bliss and Cross deserve another reign. But reign at WM36 in this situation is like kicking a dead dog. Sorry, but I am painfully realistic and annoyed by how the whole situation is managed. WWE may hate me and ignore my application, but I won't stop and lie about how I see things. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross should win the belt in a better situation, after a long dramatic chase of the belts, so the taste of the victory to be sweeter for everyone.
