Another really dynamic and emotional week for WWE women's wrestling scene has passed. Intensive RAW. Competitive SmackDown Live!. Surprising NXT and most importantly, to big headlines, related to two stunning Japanese female Superstars!
EMMA VS. SASHA BANKS
... OVERWHELMING HEAT!
When I read the quick hint, I thought - Another simple match, at Emma's cost! But it wasn't just a simple match - it was a complicated segment, including the Champ Alexa Bliss and her 'best friend' Nia Jax.
I have been waiting for this match with excitement and one part of me wanted to see Emma over The Boss, because she is capable of beating Banks. It was nice as technique and build up. Both women got their moments. Emma was presented as equal as power and skills to the Boss. The end was nice - Bank Statement after nice transition!
I enjoyed when Nia joined the commentary. She didn't said much, but Bliss terrified and sort of confusing look tell it all.
Overall the match goal was to promote the forth coming Raw Women's Championship, to bring some heat on Emma's storyline ("#GiveEmmaAChance" thing) and to keep Sasha Banks busy and on screen. Meanwhile the champ and Nia Jax's presence was really nice touch to this segment.
THE MATCH ALEXA DREAMED ABOUT!
They say "Be careful what you wish because you just might get it!", but the Goddess of WWE was too busy to listen her voice and forget about the consequences.
The consequences are great for us, the fans and bad for Bliss. After a short chat and kneeling around Nia Jax, Alexa finally get what she (doesn't) wanted! A nice, beautiful match, that The Goddess was 'dreaming for a long time', next week on RAW! Now it's happening, buuuut we are sure that our Little Miss Bliss will find a way to escape the match...
THE THREAT
I think that one heavenly power has heard our prays and now Asuka is coming to safe/destroy the Raw women's division!
Every woman in the locker room will feel 'Nobody is ready for Asuka' stuff physically and emotionally. We can't wait to see her debuting and we even hope to see one return simultaneously with Asuka's presentation at Monday Night's show - that of Paige. That will be a great moment for her return, with challenging the debuting Empress. If WWE do that they will blow off the roof!
SMACK DOWN WOMEN'S CHAMPION NATALYA VS. NAOMI
TITLE MATCH
Hm, these weeks matches in both brands were kind of short, as almost 30 minutes MYC Finals were coming, but what was the difference between SDL and RAW, was kind of question of quality!
While RAW's match was somehow in a rush, with a some distraction from late joining color commentators (Jax), SmackDown Live presented really nice packed match, so dynamic and interesting, that I though the segment lasted 20 min. buuut my bad! It was nearly 7 minutes long.
Having all of the three current key figure at the Blue brands roster was really good idea. Having James Ellsworth on a leash, was even funnier! Carmella did great job at the commentary and her and her pet involvement was really well booked. The way they both were accidentally smashed by Naomi, was really nice. It brings me a lot of pleasure...
The end was classic: This is what is happening when you made a mistake in wrestling match - someone will capitalize on it! Naomi fall after great and physical contest. Natalya retained the belt and saved us the agony of irrational belt dropping and exchanges!
Actually me and Toni Serano, we both are really happy that after 6-7 years, Nattie finally is a Champion. She is really great and important figure for WWE and that show of respect is priceless. Way to go Nattie!
BILLIE KAY AND PEYTON ROYCE VS. RUBY RIOT
...AND UNEXPECTED ALLY!
The NXT women's division is on its toes and nails!
It's already had bee shaken by the news that the inaugural Mae Young Classic winner and newest official NXT Superstar Kairi Sane will challenge for the vacated NXT Women's title. The questions are how and who will be against the Japanes Pirate Girl? At these point we have a really great official roster and many hidden (in the PC) gems.
Like The Iconic duo and Ruby Riot... oh and the surprising savior of the week!
The rivalry between Riot and the Iconic Aussies is really nice revival of the NXT women's wrestling. While we still waiting to see Lacey Evans, Bianca Belair, Vanessa Borne and Sarah Logan added to the NXT's main roster, we still enjoy watching our collection of amazing former-indie talents performing a showdown, every week (where is Mandy?).
This week Ruby tried to get some revenge for the last match against Royse, where Kay's Big Boot was the difference maker. Her heroic act was destined to end with a serious beat down... but then the miracle happened!
I love this woman and her character - with every appearance it became more and more refined! I am talking about the amazing crazy Nikki Cross! She just slowly walked to the stage, smiling maniacally and watching the match and in the next moment you see her crazy-smiled face rising above Riot's shoulder and ... tag! The following is picture of destruction and craziness that was released over Kay and Royce. Ruthless, raw and primal! The way we love it!
Actually we in AWOW wanted this to happen from a long time. First we dreamed to see Riot and Cross working together in an 'unholy alliance' of their own! Second we wished to see Nikki getting her revenge against the Iconic Duo, since their match at TakeOver, the Fatal-4-Way that involved Asuka, where Kay and Royce throw Nikki Cross through a table! So now we get 2 in 1!
We can't wait to see where all of these storylines will lead us! We desperately hope that Kairi Sane's opponent will be selected via tournament or even four fatal-4-ways, that will nominee 4 women to fight in final four-way to determine the challenger!
We'll wait an we'll see! Next week we will watch even closer, because there will be that Fatal-4-Way for the RAW Women's belt and we are intrigued!
