LET'S STOP "BITCHING" AROUND AND FACE THE FACTS- INDIES VS. "MODELS"

Melina
Today I get pissed off by one specific and ignorant comment on Facebook!

Yes, I am so into WWE's women's division, as I have said it before - WWE former-Divas like Trish Stratus, Lita, Melina, Mickie James and etc. helped me to discover and respect, and most importantly inspired me to love women's wrestling.

Mickie James
I have a limited look at WSU, Shine Wrestling and SHIMMER. I follow their websites and watch their talents in a separate videos over the net. I follow several talents career very close and I hope to see them in WWE one day, because they deserve to be on the biggest stage of them all...

I get pissed-off by the fact that this person called WWE women's division "Hollywood wrestling of WWE", because all of the women in WWE are former models or have a fitness background!

THAT IS NOT TRUE!

WWE has 26 women in WWE RAW, WWE SmackDown Live and NXT, officially fighting and included in the official rosters. From this women 11 officially have a serious indies background , that makes 42 % of the roster. That includes:

Emma
1. Aliyah (Jasmin Areebi)* / NXT - AIW • SMASH (Canada);
2. Asuka (Kana) /NXT -   AJPW , CHIKARANOAH •  SHIMMERSMASH (Japan);
3. Bayley (Davina Rose) /NXT - EWF • SHIMMERSHINEVPW;
4. Billie Kay (Jessica McKay) /NXT -  AAWCHIKARACZWROHSHIMMERSHINE;
5. Peyton Royce (KC Cassidy) /NXT -   • SHIMMERSHINE;
6. Becky Lynch (Rebecca Knox) /WWE SmackDown Live - ChickFightSHIMMER;
Paige
7. Emma (Tenille Dashwood) / WWE - SHIMMER ; ECCW; MCW (AUSTRALIA);
8. Natalya (Nattie Neidhart) /WWE SmackDown Live -    • SHIMMER
9. Paige (Britani Knight) WWE RAW-  ChickFightSHIMMER;
10. Sasha Banks (Mercedes KV) WWE RAW - Chaotic Wrestling (2010–2012); NECW; NWA;
Asuka
11. Tamina Snuka  / WWE - World Extreme Wrestling;

*I am showing their famous outside WWE ring names

The list may be incomplete. But this is official rosters competitors who have their background outside WWE. Count how many time do you see SHIMMER as part of many of these girls path to WWE!
Bayley

Now let's count the non-indies wrestlers in WWE. They are nearly 15, which means 58% of all WWE official rosters.

Billie Kay
1. Liv Morgan /NXT
2. Mandy Rose /NXT
3. Alexa Bliss /WWE SmackDown Live
4. Alicia Fox /WWE RAW
5. Carmella /WWE SmackDown Live
6. Charlotte /WWE RAW
7. Dana Brooke /WWE RAW
Peyton Royce
8. Eva Maria /WWE SmackDown Live
9. Naomi /WWE SmackDown Live
10. Nia Jax /WWE RAW
11. Nikki Bella /WWE
12. Rosa Mendes /WWE
13. Summer Rae /WWE RAW
14.(!) Lana /WWE RAW
15.(!) Maryse /WWE SmackDown Live

Now the haters will say "Ha! I told you models..."
Natalya

No, deary! There are many catches, that narrow-minded fans, who loves to watch only brawls and naked asses, forget...

1.ADD %, REMOVE %

Becky Lynch
If we remove Lana and Maryse that will not change anything. Even if we add Sara Lee (NXT House shows), Daria (NXT House shows) - the picture will "looks bad".

Even if we add Ember Moon and Nikki Glencross to the women with background outside WWE, we will have 13 on 17/18. 43 % on 57%.

Sashs Banks
But those 43 % are good in helping and training with the other 57%. You forget that the wrestling is team work even when it is 1 on 1 battle. And those 57% have many progressive and landscape changing women in it! Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Nia Jax, Charlotte and many NXT Alumni, with the other veteran-alike women are not a "models" anymore! If someone says that, he/she needs a serious REALITY CHECK!

Alexa Bliss
2. THOSE DEVELOPMENT TERRITORY THING

WSU, SHINE, SHIMMER has their training grounds. Wherever they are! We can found a pictures where our favorite indies are preparing for shows. All of this amazing talents have freedom to work for whoever they want, for a low price, and a lot of risk, just for narrow minded people to watch, laugh and says "Wow!" or "Ivelisse, you are hot chick" without realizing, that their health is at stake on every show.

Naomi
Charlotte
Nia Jax
WWE is better organized. If you watch Breaking Ground, you know what I am talking about. Look at well at that roster of 15 women. All of them didn't debut on WWE. They have worked hard in all of WWE's developmental territories. FCW! OVW! DSW! Even Maryland Championship Wrestling! These are place where WWE invest time and money in its new talents, and that's why they don't allowed open contracts... Because open contracts means a lot of risk. Much more that the risk to wrestle every week in one promotion. When we talk about wrestling, there is always risk for the health of everyone. WWE may have exploited their Superstars on max, sometimes they are rude and didn't allow them to rest and that is the cost to be #1 promotion! Everything comes with the price. So when I heard some indie wrestler, with non-constant engagement  and schedule or fan who watch only 3-4 promotions, talking how WWE are "Not serious about their Women's division"  I can say "Yes, there was a moment, when WWE treated their women's division like a "sex stock". But you can't say that this is a total true about WWE and their former-Divas, current women Superstars! Evidence? Lita, Trish Stratus, Melina, Mickie James, Molly Holly, Jacqueline, Jazz, Ivory, Victoria, Gail Kim, Eve Torres, Beth Phoenix and etc. a list of evidences, women who worked with all of their souls and hearts, and many of us enjoy to watch, appreciate and respect them.

3. MODELING AND FITNESS + DREAMS

Alicia Fox
Many beautiful women, had walked this path - modeling for living, for earning some money to accomplish their dreams. WWE has involved that part of some women's wrestlers in an angle, several years ago. The Divas of Doom declared war to all the other women, who were former "models". Many of affected girls, back there answered Beth and Nattie's verbal attacks with smart answers - Eve put her Jiu-Jitsu background, the other girls answered with their hard work in developments and their evolution in the ring. "Yes, we were modeling, but now we are here and we will work as hard as possible and give our best to stay!".

Modeling can be just a phase or necessary part of their career.

Carmella
To be a fitness model you have to work in the gym, as long as I know, and to have a great physique. The great physique is a better foundation for future athletic or wrestling activities, than sitting in the chair and watching who is (eventually) the best, and who (eventually) is not! So being whatever you want, needs some work... To be just a jealous, murmuring fan, doesn't break any sweat!

Many of these women who enters WWE and the wrestling scene, at all, have a real desire to be a wrestlers. They were models for a while (just to pay the tax for the training camp) or do anything else, but have a dream to be part of any wrestling promotion, especially the biggest of them all. And some of them did it! They get signed to NXT and then to WWE.

4. ALL OF RESPECT AND GRATITUDE FOR WSU, SHINE, SHIMMER AND ETC.

Leva Bates
All-women promotion get the attention that they deserved the last two years. People knows that there was SHIMMER and WSU (The leaders), but they didn't get the women's wrestling serious. Many mixed promotion used women for valets and sexual objects or banned women, unofficially, because "They can't wrestle". WWE started to forge its women division standards long before the other promotions, realize the power of equality and the greatness that women can bring to their division. WWE allowed the likes of Lita and Jazz former ECW competitors to shine bright. WWE forced women who were not wrestlers to find their wrestling side like Terri Runnels. WWE creat legends who later bring their flame and desire for wrestling in other promotions like Jacqueline, Ivory and etc. WWE created Trish Stratus - it build her character from bombshell to perfect wrestling machine. WWE and its developments were a starting point for many of the greatest women on the indie scene and TNA's rosters like Gail Kim and Ivelisse.

Ivelisse
WSU, SHIMMER, SHINE and etc. they are now a starting point next to WWE. They give freedom, they have little be constructive chaos in there. They share rosters. They experiment with a lot of extreme thing and reach the border between secure environment and suicide. Actually we can't compare the women's wrestling independent scene with WWE because they are two DIFFERENT UNIVERSES! Constructed in a different ways, fighting for their survival and positions. Full with talents, who can shine bright everywhere!

Mia Yim
I love women's wrestling! I don't love it because it involves beautiful women, who fight each other for something like money or to entertain. I love women's wrestling, because I can see beyond the tiny clothes and the scripted fight - I can see and feel the power of this women who decided to put their health and life on the line for something they all love. I can see it when I watch WSU videos, when I read SHIMMER's results, when I brows through SHINE roster and events and when I watch WWE and TNA. Because it's not enough to be beautiful and to pose to be a wrestlers, and everyone who say that, don't have any idea of what he is talking about!

Respect and admiration!
