It is clean that we are going to see two interesting women's title matches at SummerSlam. But there is still controversy surrounding them. Prior the biggest wrestling event of the summer, we will have the opportunity to see another chapter of Ember Moon vs. Asuka's story, which is so controversial and exciting, too. At the top of all of it we have Mae Young Classic - the epic, women empowering tournament, pre-taped in two eventually hard days, landing at WWE Network, but first its Bracketology is coming to tease us!
Last night in a very intensive and competitive match Sasha "The Boss" Banks earned the right to challenge Alexa "The Goddess" Bliss, for another attempt to win the RAW women's belt, for a fourth time. Last week I said that I wish something to happen and neither Nia, neither Sasha to reach to this match, because I saw this title opportunity as a great way for Paige to return! We have similar story a years ago, when Beth Phoenix, was injured(kayfabe) and wasn't able to compete in Divas title rematch at PPV against the champion Nikki Bella. Then Layla, who recovered from injury, for months, stepped into the light and capitalize a win over the Bella Twins, to win the Championship. I hoped to see Paige returning and re-establish herself! This is the perfect moment!
I desperately hope to see something like that, but maybe not. These days RAW's creatives are kind of into replay mode. Bayley vs. Nia Jax, Sasha vs. Nia Jax...! The replays are not bad! They make every following match dynamic and innovative of sort. But we really need Paige, and I hope to see her at SummerSlam even in a post-match segment, like attacking both Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss, for continuing her lone-wolf gimmick!
SMACKDOWN WOMEN'S TITLE: THE WILDEST CARD OF THEM ALL?
Today we will talking about Carmella - our inaugural Money In The Bank Contract Holder! We will discuss the match between Naomi and Natalya later this week, in our predictions post, as we think that SmackDown Live has a potential to put another women's match in the Kickoff, that may involve Lana, Tamina, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. They have the potential for this kind of match. We'll wait for the tonight's results.
But now we have the Princess of Staten Island, who is kind of a show-stopper, the past months. From her two Money In The Bank Ladder matches wins, with some assistance from her "friend" or "pet" James Ellsworth to her victory last week over Naomi (not without a help of the Chinless Superstar), Carmella is still teasing our imagination with the questions like "Will she cash in at SummerSlam?", "Can she win the belt on her own?", "Is she suitable to be WWE SmackDown Women's Champion?".
I will answer to the third question first: I think that Carmella as Champion will open a lot of doors, like for Nikki Bella's return, wars with Baecky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, even fights with Tamina, Natalya and Lana (why not). But the bad news is that her reign will be shadowed by James Ellsworth, who will help her all the time and eventually he will be the one who will caused his Girl's reign doom! That will be nice to watch! Don't you think?
Questions one and two will have their answers at August 20, 2017, when SummerSlam will hit Barclays Center, New York, at 7et/4pt.
MAE YOUNG CLASSIC BRACKETOLOGY: STILL EXCITING
Yes, my heart is still bleeding, for Deonna Purrazzo (representing Italy) and even Lei D'Tapa (representing Tonga). International tournament with predominant host country's competitors is kind of away from the diversity and color it may have. Buuut!
We have 32-women who worked their way through the indies and WWE Performance Center to be here, and at the end of the day, my little disappointments are stepping back, to the RESPECT, for all of them and the excitement for the final at September 12, 2017!
I won't to see and analyze with my own eyes, every match, to see how everything happened and how we reached where we are. Of course I have a pick for a MYC winner and I hope that she will win!
I want to watch the Bracketology to see how WWE is presenting their top picks, prior the broadcasting. That would be nice. I want to see who do they chose to present in it. 100% Shayna Baszler, Candice LeRae, Serena Deeb and Kairi Sane are in it. It's still excited for many of us! So let's enjoy it!
